I'm looking forward to the A-wing and B-wing pilots having the same argument over which fighter is better that my friends and I had in the XVT era (and, later, in a different form, Rogue Leader).

    (The answer is "A-wing", BTW)

I was having that same argument with my friends before that, back in the mid-80s vintage action figure era. The answer back then was B-Wing, BTW. That toy was freakin' sweet, not to mention that fact that Kenner never released an A-Wing in the mainline Star Wars collection so if you wanted your A-Wing Pilot to actually fly something you had to cross over into the Droids toy line to get it. (Insert Nelson "Ha ha!" here.)

More or less related, I require a scene in this book where one of the starfighters explodes and another pilot exclaims "He's Alpha-Bits now!" Variations on the theme are acceptable.

I will say, I was the first one to comment that I didn't really care for the title. However, over the last couple of days it has started to grow on me. So give it time, everyone.

Oh, the B-wing toy is superior, but the A-wing is better to fly- smaller, faster and, thus, way harder for the eyeballs to hit.

The only thing that matters to me: Will Super Star Destroyers be in the book?

Just takes a lucky or shot or 2 though and your A-Wing is toast. B-Wing can at least take a bit of punishment.

Very interested in this book even though the title suggests that the ships are going to be flown by Big Bird and the Cookie Monster etc.

I don't judge a book by its cover and I don't judge a book by its title. ;)

I have zero doubts that this book will be an amazing story by a very talented author. Sign me up for Alphabet Squadron, I can fly anything! :D

Here's an article that has some interesting information on this book.

    http://www.theforce.net/story/front...ublishing_Director_Michael_Siglain_182128.asp

The relevant quote from the Lucasfilm creative director is "It started with us thinking, what if the hunters became the hunted? We had that idea around the same time were discussing stories that we all love like Rogue Squadron stories and fighter pilot stories. We thought it would be cool if we had this squadron that was this rag-tag team that included an A-Wing, a B-Wing, a Y-Wing, an X-Wing and a U-Wing. If you had this Imperial strike force that was taking out all of these teams, and then you had to bring the survivors of these teams together to stop this strike force that was stopping all of them.

It’s looking a little bit at the horrors of war and the aftermath of war. We’re looking at what happens to these rebel pilots during the time of the Galactic Civil War and then once the final battle happens, where do they go from there. We wanted to explore the time after The Return of the Jedi, we wanted to explore these Rebel pilots and what they’re dealing with both pre and post the destruction of the second Death Star.

One of the smartest things they ever did after the reboot was publish a Databank article on the Executor with a 19.0km length. They were like “we’re not doing that again.”

This book will have 75 Super Star Destroyers in it.

*This is an estimate and may be widely inaccurate.*

And them promptly introduced an SSD of the same class as the Executor before it was constructed but named the class after the Executor to annoy the people who demand that the first names ship of the class be the name for the class...

... not that we ever had an Obi Wan-class Star Destroyer.
