Those shuttles with elongated wings didn't seem practical to me, because that would increase their chances of being hit in close combat if fighters engaged them. A number of Disney era ship designs seemed to be literally stretched though. They weren't bad, but some did feel a bit bland in comparison to ships from the OT / PT.

I think from a design perspective, the simplicity of the shuttles are illustrative of great design - something I think Lucas forgot about with the overwrought ship designs in ROTS. The shuttles in the ST and RO follow the McQuarrie rule of simple shapes, while still feeling new. And they’re menacing without being cartoonishly so. I like Krennic’s best, but IMO, Kylo’s shuttle is the best ship design in the ST.

Raddus’ ship is perhaps the best ship in the new films. I love that thing. Including the interior.

They're not designed for combat, the weaponry is purely defensive and if fighters got near them their escort fighters would take care of any attackers.

Didn't say they were - but a couple escort fighters can be picked off easily by a squad of Rebels, leaving a big clumsy shuttle vulnerable to attack and destruction.

That kinda looks like thermal imaging. I presume it's not really orange?

@Bor Mullet @Alien Vanguard I'm assuming that it's a sneaky drone pic so no thermal imaging and as it's orange on all surfaces we can cut out reflections as well. Taken during the Black Park clear up operations, shame they have already removed the droid from the socket.

Leia stated that they were all that was left of the Resistance. This Fleet would be the one that answers her call, presumably gathered from all over the Galaxy. It's a shame that there are no new ship designs in that Fleet though.

It could always be a stand-in fleet so they don't spoil any new designs for IX.

There are actually two Mon Cal ships in that frame, the top of the other is beneath the bombers on the left. The Mon Cal ships look like they might even be refit Home One type cruisers. There is also a segment of another ship on the top right corner - could be a new design. I'm honestly surprised to see the bombers again, considering they mentioned the entire fleet was destroyed. If Lando or another character shows up with an auxiliary fleet, you'd imagine there would be more diversity among the class of ships they have available.

I think this might be a strong possibility.

Adding to ships i want to see on screen is the YT-2000:

Light freighter dogfights ftw ;) Although I guess the Millennium Falcon sort of has that covered. But I'll say it yet again, a call to arms scenario could rally all kinds of ships to the cause.

Seeing as the Resistance/New Rebellion needs reinforcements, a likely scenario is for them to have any style of ship that can serve a purpose. Here's two designs from the late 1970's which could be adapted/slightly redesigned to make interesting ships in the fleet.

Dear God, even when I was drawing space ships as a teenager many moons ago I wouldn't have put rocket pods and AAMs on them. They truly are awful and vaguely familiar...

If that X-Wing is actually orange then its cockpit has pink tinted windows.

And is parked on a planet where everything is purple and the production crew invested time to bizarrely create tarps out of a shade of blue never before used on any tarp ever.

Have you tried adjusting the colour levels to compensate for the limitations of the capturing device?

The colors are distorted, but I think that's an orange X-Wing for sure.

Seems like an orange x-wing to me. The drone just has really bad exposure. It's a shadowed set, so it's having a hard time reading color of the foliage right. Here...I just bumped the tint back a bit in ps.

Yep, whatever way you play around with it, it's orange. There's a blue tarp up top right, not sure what that is in the middle of the photo and that collection of similar shaped objects remind me of the spars used to make large balsa wood aeroplane models (how they are all similar but vary slightly in shape and size.).

It's the tie fighter where Porkins exploded inside. The orange color are the remainings of his flight suit.
