Hm, I have not read/seen everything about all of those but from what I have and what I can gather it's either Middle Earth or Potter.

Though I suppose I'm relieved that this isn't another roundabout attempt to boost a Hillary Clinton candidacy via poll.

    1. Star Wars has the fullest franchise out of everything. Still the most popular.
    2. Middle Earth has some of the best quality, but not many avenues yet like tv.
    3. Harry Potter, again no TV, but quality is there plus the immersion factor people do.
    4. Marvel is king of movies right now, but quality various from movie and TV still cant touch DC's level.
    5. DC on TV is pretty much king, its animated universe is untouchable but despite some success with films cant get a universe off the ground.
    5. Game of Thrones? Uh no. Depth, detail, but the lack of his books frustrate everyone
    6. Jurassic Park? I like them but no.
    7. Star Trek...interesting. SW and ST have the most cultural influence over a longer period but its lacking on TV currently, although it had a good run but not really in film.

So my vote went to Harry Potter. Never read anything, only saw the first movie. How long it stays popular is the question. But you cant deny how much of an immersive world it has. SW, ST, and ME have this as well, but ironically regular people would consider that nerdy whereas HP is mainstream.

just goes to show you that every franchise only needs the slightest nudge in the direction of failure. Peter Jackson's JRR Tolkien's Middle Earth crashed and burned with the Hobbit trilogy. Trek launched its film franchise with one of the worst sci fi movies ever made. Game of Thrones went off the rails when its original author decided that he had enough money to retire. It's now being completed as inferior fanfic. Star Wars is a scattershot mess that only persists as a franchise because of the bottomless goodwill many gen x-ers have for the first two to three movies.

Only Disney's Marvel's cinematic universe, from the release of Iron Man forward, is in an apparently unstoppable golden age.

Star Wars is a mixed bag at the moment. Prequels were OK (yes, I just said that), the OT is sacred, TFA is OK, Rogue One is what all films should look like, Solo was good, TLJ is cringe-worthy except for Crait. I’ve liked all the TV shows except for TCW season 5.

Middle Earth—OK. Good except for the dumb idea to put elves and a stupid love triangle in The Hobbit.

Wizarding World—Let’s just stick with books and films 1-7 please, although I could throw in the first Fantastic Beasts movie as a bonus. Aside from that, we have Jude Law playing Only Remotely Resembling Dumbledore, and Harry’s kid being an excessively angsty adolescent who probably listens to Nickelback off screen.

Game of Thrones: No. Stop ****ing your relatives. And throw Joffrey off a tower in the first episode.

Marvel: Between this one and Star Wars for my vote. Again, a mixed bag. Daredevil and Jessica Jones were fantastic. Black Panther joins Rogue One in what all films should look like. Iron Fist and Defenders were boring as hell and I stopped watching.

DC: I liked Nolan’s Batman. Man of Steel was OK. Wonder Woman was great.

Star Trek: Haven’t watched enough to have an opinion.

    Jurassic Park: First movie only.

Of those choices, I'll probably go with the SW franchise; even though IMO a few movies to date still left much to be desired.

I voted for Marvel, on the basis of Disney producing what is essentially a really, really expensive TV show over the past ten years. I could have voted for Harry Potter on the same basis, since that was the franchise that demonstrated that people will sit through a decade long sixteen hour story, but I decided that the MCU edged out the Potterverse. as well as Star Wars.

That was not a nudge though. The Hobbit trilogy was a bulldozer in the direction of failure.
