    Yes, NSW stories are eligible for the challenge, too. :)

    Yep, the joys and pitfalls of fanfic roulettes! :D Something very similar happened to me when I got my random number for this challenge too—I had already written an "absent beloved" story in the past concerning the exact same plot point. Oh, well, so it goes!

    I’ve got my story for “distant beloved” pretty much done. I just need to get the rest of the longer fic that it slides into written since the OTP challenge entry is about 6 chapters beyond where my fic currently stands :rolleyes:

    Hello all, and best greetings of the season! :)

    Just letting you know that there are now exactly two weeks left in challenge #9 (The Distant Beloved), with stories due on January 7, 2019. And I also thought I'd check in and ask how things are going with the challenge—any questions, concerns, new numbers needed, etc.? The sock is, as always, at your disposal. :)

    The rules do state

    which means even briefly at the end. But an image of the person, or a note or letter written by the person, is fair game.

    I have mine done but it parallels another longer story I’m working on, and it would contain spoilers. (as if anyone who ever read anything by me couldn’t already tell what direction my story will take :rolleyes::p). Hoping to get it posted after the holiday.

    Whew, the deadline is already close! There's been some great turnout so far and I'm looking forward to seeing what's still to come. :D

    And, um, on that note, I see a bit about a new number mentioned by the sock there. I've been trying to put pen to paper but still don't even have an idea to write on! Would it be terribly uncouth of me to request permission to choose a new number for the roulette? Shamefully, I'm afraid the old one is just a dead zone for my muse. [face_blush]

    EDIT: Never mind. After some chatting I'm going to write for my original prompt like a responsible author. Alrighty, let's do this . . . [face_thinking]

    Started something, but had to completely change genre from SW to non' in order to get a 'hook' to work with.

    Edit: Just checked the rules, and it says "focuses on a pairing", so I may not have anything after all...
