For the first time ever, i've been playing System Shock 2 and regretting I never got into this earlier. So, as it says on the tin, best gaming sequels (not reboots or prequels). Mine: Super Mario Brothers 3 System Shock 2 Dark Forces 2 Broken Sword 2 Quake 2 Thief 2 The Pandora Directive (sequel to Under A Killing Moon)
Spider-Man 2 (as a sequel to the first Spider-Man movie game) The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (as a direct sequel to Ocarina of Time) Resident Evil 2 Metal Gear Solid 2 Super Smash Bros. Melee
All personal preference of course but a lot of other people love these games too Batman Arkham City Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Halo 3 Gears of War 3 Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) Crash Bandicoot 2 or Crash 3
Sonic 2 Super Mario World Battlefront 2 (2005) Final Fantasy VII Super Street Fighter 2 (mainly 'cause it included mah girl for the first time) Spoiler
Hmm, let's see: Phantasy Star III and IV Streets of Rage 2 Uncharted 2 Assassins Creed II Batman: Arkham City Yakuza 3 and 4 Might think of more.
3? 3 would be such a good sequel if you know, it had an ending...lol Battlefront II(old)>Battlefront I(old) Hitman(2016)>Hitman: Absolution Resident Evil 7>Resident Evil 6
ME3 is still a very good sequel even with the ending, here's two things that make it so even with that whole ending mess: Curing the Genophage with Mordin Reconciling the Geth with their creators Both of those plot points play out depending on what you did over the first two games, with the third paying them off in spectacular fashion.
Halo 2. The musical buildup to the ending crescendo is spine tingling. I play the soundtrack when im bored at work and still get goosebumps from the music evoking that perfect ending (even if it was a chicken tease). “Finishing this fight.”
Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory (the third in the series) Team Fortress 2, certainly Just Cause 2 Shadow of the Colossus, if one can count it as a sequel to Ico, though they in a sense complement each other.
Resident Evil 2 Mass Effect 2 Sensible World of Soccer GTA IV X3 Clearly though RE 2 is lord above all and I hope the remake enhances further Sensi Soccer is a very close second though
Warcraft 2 Speedball 2 Dune II Mechwarrior 2 TIE Fighter Grand Prix 2 Destruction Derby 2 Micro Machines V3
1.The Force Unleashed 2. Compare to Unleashed 1 it improved a lot of things: -Faster gameplay. -Better aiming. -Better bossfight battles.(The camera view was also better in these sections compared to Unleashed 1) -Less Buggy.(No crashes, No enemies becoming idle like Unleashed 1) -Faster loading times and no loading time when going to upgrade screen. -Far better challenges. -More responsive controls. -much better variety in enemy design.(Since most enemies in 1 where just stormtroopers with different weapons) -Dismemberment.(So far it's the best SW game in terms of Dismembering enemies. It's far more realistic than dismemberment in Jedi Outcast and Academy) -Better AI balance.(In Unleashed 1 enemies would attack you when you were performing a grab move on them. In Unleashed 2 it's better balanced.) -Better graphics. -Mind Trick was a great addition. The only reason that Unleashed 2 got lower scores is due to shorter length and underdeveloped storyline.(Otherwise in other ways it was far better than Unleashed 1.) 2.Star Wars Jedi Knight 2.(Lightsaber fights is far better than JK 1) 3.Devil May Cry 3.(Surpassed both DMC 1 and 2 in a lot of ways.)
Let's see... Team Fortress 2, of course. Age of Empires 2, certainly. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2, yep. Pokemon Gold and Silver, betcha. Sonic 3 and Knuckles, I guess. I can't think of any others.
Sonic and Knuckles was an underrated game for sure. Back in the cartridge era; who'd have even thought of latch-on technology to enhance your games? I had most of the primary Sonic games, and with S&K you get to replay the older games with new features. Yeah, they have something like that these days, but it's called DLC.
Civilization 2 Civilization 4 KOTOR 2 Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis (if you want to count it as sequel to Last Crusade) and those already mentioned above: Jedi Knight Max Payne 2 TIE Fighter Grand Prix 2
Max Payne 2....hmmm....yep, on a technical level (visual, controls, gunplay and overall style) is an upgrade from its predecessor. Can't say the same for the story or writing.
