I’m seeing most on Twitter say that it is Tolkien- myself being a Lucasian Purist I went for the great Greg Lukis, whom nobody can touch.

Also I’m seeing folks say that JK Rowling doesn’t belong there... I guess Harry Potter has its fair share of critics ?

Probably have to go with Tolkien, one of the few to come up with multiple unique languages (though ST has Klingon and SW has Aurebesh I guess). You can't get more 'world-buildy' than that

yeah...even though I have not read his works, I do believe when people say he was integral in creating the modern fantasy genre.

I guess all on the list has contributed in some way though

 

Although, Pokemon? Is that really a universe?

I'd quibble the term somewhat, it doesn't really feel expansive enough for that

But what do I know, maybe there's thousands of years of Poke-lore I just haven't read about

Edit: And anyway, with Pokemon Go, the Poke-universe is our universe technically

I agree with the Batman inclusion in there actually, Bat-lore has so much going for it IMO.

Yeah, what with all of his teamups over the years and the massive and amazing rogues gallery, Batman inhabits the most interesting and diverse universe in comics. Imo.

 

*lands and gifts to you sir, plus hopefully a representation picture soon of the character

that would probably be more of a witty and somewhat satirical commentary book on history through the ages

I agree with that @Dagobahsystem, though I must admit to being biased when it comes to Batman It was my first major love in the world
