Neil Degrasse Tyson had a guest on Startalk once who was a big polyamory proponent. His argument was that humans simply aren't monogamous by nature. He certainly had a point, but I think he overlooked an even stronger human trait: jealousy.

 

I have trouble caring about one thread, so if you feel like you can care about multiple threads at the same you, you do you.

 

I’m just a plain vanilla guy - I’ll lick it off any thread my spouses order me to.

This is a bit off topic, but I caught the first episode of "What We Do in the Shadows" - not as tightly funny as the movie, but that makes sense for a sitcom. One of the scenes features a vampire searching for virgins. Her go-to spot for virgin hunting: SCA. I get it! SCA types are too nerdy for sex.

Look, it's a good joke, and I'm not the type to take offense at things that don't already offend me, and I don't have any direct experience, but I'm guessing the amount of sex that happens at PENNSIC would boggle the mind.

I have a friend who went to a week-long SCA camping event shortly after a divorce. He didn't bother to pack a tent and didn't sleep outside once.

 

I hate camping trips where I come back all covered in chlamydia. Always forgetting the spray.
