Around mid-2017 I bought my first 3.75 inch action figure. It was the Black Series General Calrissian, and I was seriously impressed by the detail and articulation. So, I immediately started taking pictures with my phone, and then I moved up to my Canon Rebel SLR camera. I’m pretty sure all the shots below were taken on said camera, but I sometimes use my iPhone. Once you’ve seen them all, please tell me which ones you liked or didn’t. And please give any criticism you have! I won’t get any better if nobody tells me where I need to improve. Simple shot of a Clone Trooper (don’t know what kind of a pose that’s supposed to be). This picture is really just meant to show nice use of the depth-of-field setting. It’s just a dirt patch in my back yard, but the out-of-focus background makes it seem bigger. Ignoring the shoddy lightsaber effects, I really used the sunlight here to enhance what would otherwise be a subpar image. The lens flare is 100% natural with no FX added. Tried to emulate a frontier-style portrait here with a lot of added filters and vignettes. Sure it doesn’t make much sense that the grass blades are as big as his leg, but hey, I t’s a strange planet I guess. You probably have a lot of questions about this one, such as “what is he shooting at?”, “why is it a prototype Boba Fett?”, and “why does he have to hang onto a branch if he has a jetpack?” Well I don’t have answers for any of those, but at least it looks pretty cool, right? Last one for now. Went for a more relaxed setting and pose here. It’s exceptionally hard to get good shots using indoor lights, but by adjusting aperture you can control the lighting just like you were in a studio. I hope you enjoyed some of these wannabe-photographer’s “good” pictures. May the Force be with you. - The Awsomur
Love all of these! My fave is definitely the Prototype Boba one, I'm not like a photographer or anything so I wouldn't know, but I think itd be cool if you did some more experiments with lighting,
I’m glad you liked them! I plan to buy some paper to put over a desk lamp, so that it’ll change color.
Awesome!!!! I too am a fan of all of these and I do similiar stuff with figures at times when inspiration hits. Thread status- subscribed
I like! Seems to me like the one with the red goggles is going ahead to scout or something along those lines. Again really nice shots! Also, is it just me or does the one in black look like just a little but like Burt Reynolds?
Yeah,he's keeping an eye out for enemy as they make their way through. Haha, yeah he does now that you mention it.
Nice shots! I love the lighting on the Luke vs Vader one. A mod (I think) pointed me to this thread to post here, so I guess I'm reviving it with some of my own lol
