Celebration Anaheim 2022: What will they unveil?

Because production for the 2022 film won't start until 2021.....what will be the big deal of the 2020 Celebration?

Mandalorian S2
Cassian show
3rd Live Action show
Resistance S3?
Possible new animated show(s)

Those will be the main events. Then maybe we'll get a future filmmakers panel where we get to see some concept art from the 2022 movie, maybe a bit of an idea when it's set, what types of characters, etc. As much as it will be a cool panel it will be very abstract, broad strokes, not the main event of the weekend.

 

We'll see the following :

1. 40th Anniversary Panel for The Empire Strikes Back
Cast coming back to reflect and share the fun on many's favourite Star Wars film.

2. Disney+ Related Panel(s)
Details on The Mandalorian 2nd Season, Cassian Andor Series, 3rd Live Action Series ( Obi Wan / Solo / Star Wars Underworld )

3. Future of Animation Panel
Future animated series ( and maybe films )

4. Galaxy's Edge Panel
Update on future of Star Wars in Disney's Theme Parks. Details on confirmed Star Wars presence in Paris Disneyland and possible expansion into Shanghai, Hong Kong and Tokyo sites. No planned expansion of Disneyland & Hollywood Studios sites until a few years down the road.

5. Games Panel(s)
LEGO Star Wars The Complete Saga and future games from developers

6. Tribute to Sequel Trilogy Panel
Reflection of effort and work of the Sequel Trilogy

7. Future Filmmakers Panel(s)
Slate Preview of Star Wars film development in the 2020s ( and maybe early 2030s ). Reveal of directors and details on upcoming saga's from David Benioff & D.B. Weiss, reveal of Rian Johnson's involvement in Star Wars' future. Basically a clear up of all the rumours flying around here and there right now.

Personally, I think Kathleen Kennedy will be building a very solid team to lead the many sides of Star Wars with a diverse set of developments growing, she'll need people who she could trust to build this up and lead the franchise into the future.

Interesting, that's quite a bit later than the last few times, and even late than ther last Celebration Europe.

Maybe with no new movie out this time around, they have a trailer for the Cassian Andor tv-show as main highlight. That would certainly fit the timeframe if the show comes out in fall 2020.

 

I'm blessed to live within 20 minutes of Anaheim when there's no traffic.

The 4-day, Jedi Master and Saturday tickets are sold out already.

I guess Star Wars is like Heavy Metal. People are trying to declare it dead, but it just keeps going stronger.

 

I think we might be getting a new animation series coming to. I'm sure a series between ROTJ-TFA.

 

I would love this! One that shows us Lucas' outlines, Arndt's original story for VII, Trevorrow's original plans for IX (before Carrie passed away), his attempts to re-work afterwards, etc. So much interesting material they could include here.

 

It's a long overdue book. The Making of TFA by J. W. Rinzler and Mark Cotta Vaz was originally supposed to come out in Spring 2016 but it was "delayed indefinitely" for whatever reasons. It seems like a no-brainer announcement, doesn't it?

 

My biggest hope would be for a panel discussion involving all the principal creatives behind the development of the sequel trilogy, especially Kennedy, Abrams and Johnson. But the likelier bet is that there will be separate, smaller panels with individual departments (concept design, creatures/aliens, VFX) discussing their work on TROS and the trilogy overall.

 

That seems extremely likely.

 

I would love if we get to know what is the next big thing about. In the same way in 2012 we knew the next set of movies would be the ST, I would like to know if the B&W trilogy will be in the Old Republic or in the future.

That and a proper clarification about what's the state on whatever RJ is doing.

Project Luminous, and what ever Disney + shows they have. I don't expect anything post ST to be honest. There's no point in doing that right away. Let it rest for a few years.
