Chrome has about 7 times the market share of Firefox, takes about a half to a third as much RAM (at least for me, anyway), starts up quicker (again, at least for me; and, yes, I do have Firefox Quantum), plays animated GIFs, animated PNGs, and HTML5 video much better, so I'm seriously tempted to choose Chrome. But then so many people I talk to seem to prefer Firefox, and also Chrome is of course Google so bye bye, privacy. Which do all you guys think I should go with?

I haven't used Chrome but a friend of mine swears by it. I've used Firefox for years.

Firefox protects privacy, data, and users' rights better. It also seems faster to me.

I did. You make a case for Chrome Alone. The arguments for Firefox are others bragging about it -probably suffering from “little man” syndrome - and the illusion of privacy.

Your OP actually made me wonder if I should switch to Chrome. But I really like IE.

I am firmly onboard the one use system. I also wear latex gloves and a mask.

I do feet strange looks in the Apple store, but it’s worth it.

You forgot using a no data collection VPN to route to another no data collection VPN to access TOR to use a virtual phone to use a Signal front-end.

Chrome has always been faster for me; although I'm forced to use (dare I say it) Internet Explorer for certain applications at the office that wouldn't work efficiently in other browsers.

If you're in the Google Ecosystem and don't mind giving everything you know to them, go Chrome. If you're privacy focused, go Firefox (this comes from a Safari user)

Chrome. Haven't used Firefox since 2014. But, then, as of October, I utilize Apple exclusively.

    Sorry, couldn't resist.
I've used both Chrome and Firefox and have gotten good results with each. I'm still thinking it over.

I was going to complain about how Chrome got rid of its "close other tabs" function, but then I noticed it's back. But yeah, anyway, Chrome is always doing these little things that piss me off. But I've stuck with it just out of inertia.

Netscape Navigator. If your default homepage isn't CERN, I can't understand you.

Isn't Mozilla Firefox the successor to Netscape Navigator?

Anyway, I was using Chrome for a long time, and I still use it on my Android devices from time to time. But I also use Firefox, especially when more light was being shed on Chrome's spying habits. But then Firefox also had an issue, so idk which is "better."

Also, people are using Internet Explorer? It's Microsoft Edge far superior? It was supposedly a Chrome-killer. Edge has some great features that I really enjoy (like Read-Only views), and it's fast. But I'm more accustomed to the Chrome and Firefox UIs.

Yeah, but it turns out I was misremembering - Netscape wasn't released until 1994, by AOL , of all things.
I should've said the original Mosaic (a name that AOL tried to attach to Netscape until they were sued)
NATIONAL CENTER FOR SUPERCOMPUTING APPLICATIONS FTW !
