First of all, I believe @mods could change the title to include the rest of the post-Skywalker Saga scores here.

Havign said this, the music to me if one of the key parts of SW. Not sure how I would feel with an alternative take on it ala Hans Zimmer. He has already done his thing with movies as great as Blade Runner 2049, and his work could not touch the original score by Vangelis. In fact, it was the worst aspect of the film IMO.

I think Giacchino would be my top pic, but only because how great his scores have been and how worthy of Williams his RO music was.

I liked Zimmer's Blade Runner score. It could not touch the original, but did some interesting riffs on the original score. Would be interesting to see what Zimmer could do with SW.

    Zimmerrrrrr.

*Shakes uncontrollably* Haha. Zimmer's my wussy-millennial-trigger-word at this point I think. :p Ack, that X-Men score of his last month was same-old-same-old too.

Ehh, he was good back in The Rock days, I guess. Through first Pirates era.

Oh, ha! Fair enough. I feel that way about certain composers too.

For me, Zimmer is hit or miss. But when he’s good, he’s good. The BR2049 score was really effective, I think, and I remember enjoying his Gladiator score.

But I’m someone who generally likes that blaring Tibetan horn, so there’s that.

It certainly wont be John Williams as he will be 95 when this needs composing.....

I have to say that I listen to the Rogue One score more than any other... as in I will actually go and listen to it on Spotify now and again... so I'd be quite happy if Mr Giacchino got the job.

It's got to be a classic full orchestra score. It should play it fairly straight.

Kinda neither here-nor-there on Giacchino, personally, but I'd be fine with him getting another SW gig. At least he's a real, traditional, honest-go-god composer unlike the random Hans-clones from the Zimmer school.

Love Giacchino's older TV work a bunch, just kinda feel like he seems to be composing every-other blockbuster lately. Still, not many of the real guys left anymore, Horner's gone, Silvestri's not quite what he used to be. Giacchino's about as Williams-y as we're gonna get these days, along with guys like Powell. Maybe Ottman might be cool too, his X-Men stuff was always boss.

Great choice. He and Desplat are two of my favorites at the moment.

James Newton Howard and if you can’t afford him then some of the others mentioned. He is up there with Hans Zimmer in that 2nd tier below John Williams. His motifs are second to none IMHO.

If you posted his video for Clowny Clown Clown you'd be closer to how I feel the soundtrack would be appropriate.

    Someone mentioned Zimmer and BR2049.

Maybe not so much him specifically as the blurring of the score/sound boundary in that film. It meant slow, ambient music in the context of BR, but I guess that's not unavoidable.

The music of The Mandalorian has already those qualities in parts, and also spareness.

Nobody will be composing the RJ trilogy cause the odds of someone needing to compose it are 3720 to 1 - the same odds of him actually making the trilogy.....
