    Good morning Baes.

Like @El Jedi Colombiano 's Humphrey avatar, Nicolas Cage looks remarkably like a young Christopher Lee.

Time for some more Doctor Who. This time it's 1970's Inferno, also known as the story in which they literally blow up the world at the end of part six and all the characters die:

    But don't worry, it's a parallel universe :p

Also has some of the best gurning faces in all Who:

Disclaimer, I have not seen any Batman/Batman character movies. But I did see the trailer for Joker when I went to the cinema recently and it seemed pretty cool - a very gritty approach by the looks of it. Trailer also was in Finnish with subs which made it seem even more terrifying.

I was in the cinema to Midsomer, which actually did traumatised me. Jesus Christ, now that's a weird film.

‘Ello friends. New thread! Kinda bummed tbh lol; felt like we’d just moved into the last one, & we’d only had that thread title for a little while. I didn’t even get to say goodbye. [IMG]On the bright side, fancy new digs! And more room to breathe, with more pages ahead of us rather than behind us.

Hope everyone’s having a nice Friday.

I just defended TLJ  and actually quite glad I did.
I get the criticisms I really do, but it's so flaming tiring when people complain about every.single.aspect. of the film, I mean give it a rest already :p you can't go in any thread in there where nearly eveyone is like " actually they did this right, or even "kinda ok" it's whinging for the sake of whinging at this point imo.

...And why I quoted you I have no idea :p

Think it's time I finally did another Switzerland photo post, been putting it off for ages now :p

Switzerland Day 2: Tintin in St Gingolph

Note: Not actually sure if this was day 2, we might have had some rest days in between, but whatever :p

St Gingolph is a small town on the south side of Lake Geneva. It sits directly on the border between Switzerland and France. So this was the day I was very briefly residing the same country as @ThisIsMe1138 ;)

First up we have some shots of Lake Geneva itself, looking glorious with the mountains in the background. I also captured a sailboat and a lake steamer :):

Right near the carpark in St Gingolph was this cute snail statue :):

Down near the waterfront was this chateau, which held a museum:

What's this in the upper window?

Why it's Tintin of course, the plucky reporter created in 1930 by Belgian comic artist Herge, with a history that spanned 50 years of stories. There was a special exhibition going on inside the museum, with lots of interesting sketches and models.

First, before the Tintin stuff, we passed through the traditional museum, which was mostly focused on boats, but had this really odd portrait:

This crate of crab tins was the first hint of the Tintin stuff. These tins were famously used for drug smuggling in The Crab with the Golden Claws (1941):

The exhibition itself took a largely chronological stance, following the life of Herge. One of the earliest items was a model of the plane used in Tintin in the Congo (1931), the regretfully very racist early Tintin story:

A really nice sketch of Native Americans from 1923:

Herge had a fascination with native Americans ever since he was a boyscout, featuring them prominently in Tintin in America (1932). This sketch is a rare example of his non-Tintin standalone work.

A great comedic sketch of Tintin's dog companion Snowy:

A reproduction of the eponymous Cigars of the Pharaoh (1934):

Note the pun name, Kih-Oskh, Herge loved these kinds of jokes ;)

The famous Arumbayan Fetish (no jokes please [face_shame_on_you]) from The Broken Ear (1937):

2 work in progress sketches from the Crab with the Golden Claws (1941):
    [IMG][IMG]

A favourite panel of me and my sisters from The Broken Ear (1937):

We always quote the 1990's animated adaptation of this story, where the parrot quotes 'Missed again' over and over. It's very useful for when we play videogames together :p

And interesting panel from King Ottokar's Sceptre (1939), showing the distinction between foreground characters and the pre-drawn background:

A display from one of the most famous stories, The Secret of the Unicorn/Red Rackham's Treasure (1943-44), showing the exsquisite model ships. These stories, alongside Crab with the Golden claws, were adapted into the 2011 Spielberg/Jackson CG movie, which prominently featured the model ships:

A behind the scenes cross-section produced of the Carreidas Jet from Flight 714 to Syndney (1968), my favourite of all the Tintin stories:

Last of all is a shot featuring myself in front of a model of the moon tank from Explorers on the Moon (1954):

Also visible to my left with her face obscured is my sister, not @WriterintheDark, the other one ;)

Next time: The streets of St Gingolph (it's only like 4 photos, but whatever :p)

    Switzerland Day 2 Part 2: Quick Wrap-up.

Outside the Tintin exhibition, here's a shot showing the actual physical border between France and Switzerland:

France begins right where the sign says 'Frontiere' above that disused rail line. Since I didn't have my passport on me, I had to walk across the border rather than taking the car, since there's a road checkpoint but no foot barrier :p

This shot looking back towards Switzerland shows the colourful flag-lined bridge where the car checkpoint is located:

One last shot showing a memorial to one of the French presidents:

For the rest of the day we traipsed along the lido. My dad told us there was a good swimming beach, but none of us were particularly enthused, so we didn't dip in the lake in the end :p
