My TV was returned to me this morning. Though I'm gonna be away for over a week starting tomorrow. Will pick it up and start my Star Wars movie marathon (I, II, III, S, RO, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII) the following Monday :).

What's with the "An alphabet squadron novel" is that leaving the door open to it being more than a trilogy?

The paperback calls it book 1 of the Alphabet Squadron trilogy, so no. More likely they're forgoing the naming scheme they used for the Aftermath and Thrawn trilogies due to how cumbersome it would be to name the other two books Alphabet Squadron: Book Title.

The child in me wishes they had called it Book A of the Alphabet Squadron series.

Well they wanted to, but realized there's no C-Wing, so it wouldn't have worked.

Dunno why they need to be so creative, if it's a trilogy just call it a trilogy.

You literally just said they are forgoing that naming convention so don't get condescending with me.

I said they're not using the same naming convention as the Thrawn and Aftermath trilogies, not that they're not calling this a trilogy at all. Note the very first sentence in my initial response to you. I'm not sure where you got confused, but I was trying to answer your question, hence my confusion when you didn't seem to get what I was saying.

Just to help, here's the cover for the paperback-

Sometimes we like to change things up, or use alternate wordings to save space or reduce some of the text clutter, etc. *shrug*

Figured as much. Even in the Bantam days the different trilogies didn't always have the same naming schemes.

Of course sometimes I do miss the days of the Darth Bane trilogy and its overuse of colons.

What did it have to do with three people talking about starfighters? That's what confuses me.

It seems this series is cursed to have the majority of its discussion be about the title and how its formatted ;).

You've missed my point, not sure if intentionally. I'm talking about the marketing of the second book.

IDK, not a huge difference between Thrawn: Alliances and Shadow Fall: An Alphabet Squadron Novel. They're both parts of trilogies, it's just more for casual conversation. You'd refer to the former pretty much always as Thrawn: Alliances, and the latter just as Shadow Fall. Del Rey's pretty good at communicating their intentions, here the fact that the 1st book calls it a trilogy on the cover eliminates any confusion about calling the second one An Alphabet Squadron Novel.

If that doesn't address your point, then well, I can't help you any further. [face_dunno]

Okay so super pedantic question, but would you call this novel:

    Star Wars: Shadow Fall

    Or...

Star Wars: Shadow Fall - An Alphabet Squadron Novel (ala Catalyst)
