ST The Ships and Vehicles of Episode IX

They have change Kylo's TIE for the worse. The cockpit is again like the ones on classic TIEs and the wings look less distinctive.

JJ seems to simply have regressed every design RJ move forward to its OT origin...

I have no opinion one way or the other. I can't get excited about the TIE craft at all.

 

id love to see some of those sleek yellow naboo star fighters make it to the 'big' space battle. i would imagine the resistance would have a rag-tag fleet of mix and match craft...scrounged together.

 

I would rather have other YT models involved, YT-2000 etc. But I guess it would remove the MF from the spotlight.

 

It looks as though the Resistance throw everything they have into the final battle, which is about two dozen ships. The only new craft is the Troopship that Finn and Jannah are on. But we know Lando turns up later with the Falcon and I'm guessing he brings some 'friends' with him.

 

I love the frickin'-monkey-hell out of the EpI Naboo fighter designs, but there's not reason whatsoever for them to appear here. That'd be random as ****, unless Naboo somehow factored into the movie.

And at any rate, hell, you'd figure Palpatine would have turned Naboo pretty much flagship-core-worlds Imperial not long after EpIII anyway. It's probably not exactly what it was, in terms of old-timey old-order class and all, even 30 years later there's probably a big industrial Imperial footprint/scars on that world.

A bit off topic, but I was rummaging through the site a brilliant 3D artist that makes, among other things, awesome Star Wars models. I came over this post by him http://fractalsponge.net/?p=4224

Looks like someone snatched his stuff and sold to LFL/Disney. I would be livid.

Anyway, he has stills in all kinds of positions of different ships so I'll see if I can maybe find some that fit what we see on screen here.

 

Wonder if the Colossus shows up to.

 

There's a ship that looks like the Razorcrest there as well.

 

I see a U-Wing

 

At first I was SUPER EXCITED and thought that maybe they'd finally let the design team off the leash to actually design some new stuff.

But then I realised that almost everything in that shot is reused old stuff. There's a couple of new things in there but mostly it's recycled assets - the Profundity, WTAF...

At the same time, it is cool to see so many easter eggs and nods to other shows - the Ghost, the Razorcrest, Hammerheads, what looks to be the Corvus or something similar...

 

Definitely the Ghost on the right side.
I love it!

 

Speculation:

After Ben/Kylo and Rey dueling in Endor (according to the JP leaks)

-Ben/Kylo's ship is destroyed by Rey in Ahch-To. She leaves for Exogol in Luke's X-Wing
-The MF is elsewhere.

There's a battle on the skies over Exogol. JP says the details about Ben Solo leaving Endor (and, I'd add, arriving at Exogol) are fuzzy.

Is that part of the meaning of the ghost of Han Solo in the leaks? What if Ben is inside the Ghost/VCX-100 during the battle and nobody knows about it? That would also be a way to smuggle his way into Exogol.

In this scenario, someone would have arrived after the duel to pick him up. Someone in the field of his Bliss, known to Leia. According to my theory, Han&Qi'ra's daughter (and 'Owen', Rey's step-sibling) The ghost of Han Solo too, in a way.

 

Do I see a Resistance Bomber?

 

Yep, there's probably more than one. This fleet is just not the remnants of the New Republic, there will be Pirates and Smugglers amongst them.

 

U-Wing? That's pretty interesting, where's that?

Looks like some of those are brand-new ships too, maybe, hard to tell from the pic.

 

Would have loved a splash of yellow on a Naboo Starfighter.

Maybe in the movie.

 

Haha, usually I'm pretty okay with silhouettes, but I'm not getting that one. The Ghost, or something similar but new?
