I'm tempted to say that The Fellowship of the Ring has one of the best motion picture scores of all time.

It really does. Probably my single favorite non-John Williams score of all time.

I can only hope that one day we get Hobbit Complete Recordings, I can't get enough of the music from them, and there are some great pieces left off the OST.

I agree completely. I am sad they haven't already done it. I wonder if they are using these LOTR CR re-releases to gauge interest.

I have to admit, the soundtrack got me curious about Celtic music,
which I now listen to with some regularity. So, I thank LOTR for that!

I never realized that in like 2010 or something, Enya released a standalone version of "Aniron" from Fellowship of the Ring. It's on her Best Of compilation!

My playlist this month includes "Foundations Of Stone" and "The King Of The Golden Hall" - though I meant to use "Edoras" instead. I changed many of the track titles when I first ripped the CRs and now I don't always remember which ones.

Same. I renamed some tracks and also removed the source music like "The Road Goes On..." etc.

Rewatching the movies and can’t stop listening to the CRs. Combined with The Hobbit, it’s my favorite musical work.

I dare anyone to tell me that Williams didn't lift the beginning of Anakin's Dark Deeds from "Amon Hen" opening in Fellowship. I even just played them now simultaneously and it wasn't discordant at all. Also, Fellowship had just come out in 2001, which made it recent enough to be highly relevant but prior to RotS.

I wouldn’t say that I am a soppy romantic or anything, but by God the song they used for Aragon and Arwen’s theme - “Aniron” by Enya is incredible.

I have always been a fan of Enya, and Clannad, ever since I was a boy and they did the music for the TV show “Robin of Sherwood”

I think it's just coincidence. Doesn't seem intentionally lifted to me.

I don’t have plans to watch the series, but I am interested in the music. Love Bear McCreary, his Outlander stuff has always been good.

Is no one else listening to the Rings of Power soundtrack? I am loving it. Obviously, Shore's Main Title is wonderful, but I really enjoy pretty much all of McCreary's original work too. Galadriel's theme is fantastic. Sauron's as well. But also, the Valinor theme is stunning. I find my attention snapping to it each time it comes on. I even like the Harfoot music.

it grew on me a lot. different themes have been stuck in my head for weeks, but Galadriel's is most persistent. The Valinor track– or whatever plays at the end of Ep 1– is probably the series' most heightened musical accomplishment so far.

I keep finding myself humming various themes from McCreary's work on RoP. That to me is a great sign that he did something excellent. I am also trying not to listen to tracks from the episodes I've not yet seen, so that gives me a little new stuff each week, which is fun.
