The Mandalorian Moff Gideon (Spoilers)

Let’s talk all things Gideon and that sweet dark saber

 

Seems like there's more to him that meets the eye. Maybe some force sensitivity.

 

I mean if my theory is right he was able to kill Bo Katan

 

I'm going to have to watch the episode again.

The Darksaber.
Was he head of the force that wiped out Mandalore and so has stolen their sacred sword?

Or is Mandalorian?

 

I think he was in charge of wiping the Mandalorians out

 

That sword is gonna be a thing in the next season. Some honour for the Mando to uphold.

 

Moff Gideon. Now THAT is how you can successfully pull off introducing a new big bad late in the game! Suck it Palpatine!

 

Also the actor doesn’t hurt their prospects either

Great new character and has great potential to be one of the best Imperial baddies. Not as evil as Tarkin IMO; that guy's eyes speak of pure viciousness and pure evil. But Gideon appears to be as bad as they come too and no slouch in being able to handle himself.

I'm starting to love this real range in evil personalities that the Empire had; Tarkin, Krennic, Thrawn (but not so much evil) and now Gideon - as well as so many more. All evil, but in their own different way.

I look forward to his (Gideon's) development in the 2nd season and I hope they keep his formidable persona.

 

Excellent casting with Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon! I've been a fan of his since Revolution. Great bad guy!

 

I think he is near tarkin bad

 

he has a pretty great theme. Very mustache-twirly.

 

Could this guy even be some turncoat Mando who sided with the Empire during all those Rebels-era shenanigans?

 

His uniform has the black with the red piping of an Inquisitor . He dresses like one and acts like one . Perhaps if it quacks like a duck its a duck.

He also seems be be modeled on the ISB Agent Kallus concepts from Rebels who was also given a genocidal background and cold blooded approach before Gilroy flipped him.

I don’t think so I think he is just an ISB agent who was promoted to Moff

 

I thought this too, but more likely she is kept alive to prevent martyr status.

 

That wouldn't matter much as the intention of the Empire seems to have been the complete destruction of Mandalore's warrior caste. IE nobody will live anyway, so why spare this one? The civilians would fall in line out of fear just like the rest of the galaxy

The Empire knows the mandalorians history . Sheev and Vader wouldn't risk them uniting under a martyr if someone like Moff Gideon made Bo katan the current mandalore a martyr . They wouldn't risk a another Mandalorian wars . especially with the rebellion as a thorn in their side dividing their attention between the mandos and the rebellion would have been a No No

 

I think it’s simple. Moff Gideon was at (or led) the Siege of Mandalore, and he took the dark saber from Bo Katan after the Empire destroyed their forces.

 

but isn't the siege the battle in the clone wars ? I doubt they'd call both maul vs republic , ahsoka and Bo Katan's Mandos and the empire's war with the mandos both as the siege of mandalore

 

Sorry, I meant the Purge. The one that’s been mentioned in the show a number of times.

 

Could Din win the Darksaber in combat from Gideon and possibly use it to reunite/restore Mandalore?

 

I think this show is building up to Din becoming the next leader of the Mandos. And that will include re-taking the darksaber, and establishing the Jarren clan (with the mudhorn signet). He already has two in the clan, and I suspect he’ll be adding more.
