    Title: An (Adjective) Profession
Author: Raissa Baiard—and volunteers: Mira_Jade, BookExogorth, Cowgirl Jedi 1701, WarmNyota_SweetAyesha, divapilot, Findswoman, brodiew
    Genre: mad-lib, humor, possibly crack!fic
Characters: various bounty hunters and a few characters from The Mandalorian
    Timeframe: 5 years post-RotJ
Synopsis: A bounty hunter gets an unusual contract.

    Hello, and welcome to something completely different 8-}

This is my entry for the Fanon Thread's Gamiel Games bonus round, for the prompt "bounty hunter syndicates", but it took a turn for the weird when @Findswoman challenged me to write a mad-lib style story. If you're not familiar with them, mad-libs are short stories where key words are left blank. One or more players, who don't know what the story is about, are asked to provide words of certain parts of speech to fill in those blanks.

    For instance:
"(exclamation)!" cried Luke (adverb), as he jumped into his (vehicle) and drove off with his (adjective) friend, (SW character).

    could become:
"Oh good skies!" cried Luke perspicaciously, as he jumped into his Volkswagen Beetle and drove off with his incongruous friend, Unkar Plutt. (Thanks to @Findswoman for providing the random words :D)

So, hopefully, now you're saying "Wow, this looks like fun!" Great, because I need your help!
I'm looking for seven volunteers to sign up here. I'll PM you six parts of speech and PM me back six words before January 6, 2020. (It goes without saying that all words must be compliant with the TOS). On January 6, (or before if I receive all the words before then) I'll post the entire story with the words that everyone contributed.

You don't need to have seen any of The Mandalorian to contribute. The story is only loosely based on the series and contains no spoilers you probably haven't already run across in countless memes.

Thanks in advance for your help. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
    ~Raissa

This is such a fun and creative idea!! It's been a while since I've seen an interactive story like this on the boards and I can't wait to see how it develops from here. :D

    The circle...er, story is complete! A big thank you to: @Findswoman, @Mira_Jade, @Cowgirl Jedi 1701, @divapilot, @WarmNyota_SweetAyesha, @BookExogorth, and @brodiew for contributing [:D]
    ---------

Zavous Riddle was the most egregious of Gands, so it was fitting then that he was a member of the Humble Findsmens’ Society. The order had stationed him on the calamitous world of Nevarro, where it was his redolent duty to assist other, more prestigious Findsmen negotiate bounty contracts with Envy Karga, head of the Bounty Aromatherapists’ Guild.

At the moment, Karga had only one contract and all the Lightsaber hunters knew it. There were glittery few details about it, except that Karga’s mysterious client had given identical triangulating fobs to everyone. The offered price of a Kilowatt-hour-per-sol of the Mandalorian “Whyren's Reserve-steel” beskar had been great enough to commiserate even those hunters who wouldn’t normally take such contracts: Wedge Antilles, a Trandoshan with a jagged scar across his elbow, one of the big game hunting Vorkox Templars, the Duros Kirana Ti who preferred chasing space pirates with Kiom's Void Hunters; an enthusiastic-faced female human from Ruth’s Hangmen who only took dead-or-alive contracts; even Henrietta Lampshadebouncer,an agent of Rendar’s Detective Service who specialized in finding missing persons.

And because it was such a high-priority contract, Karga even gave a fob to Zavous Riddle, for wasn’t he a Findsman, fuzzy though he was, and didn’t he have the ability to divine the omens in the Mists? Zavous performed the jocular rituals that allowed him to knit the Mists, keeping in mind what little information he had on his target--last known fedora and age… 3.1415926535 years old. The bobbling tendrils of the Mist catalogued him, and as the fog condensed, he saw the truth. 3.1415926535 years, yes, but still a child, not even half a kilometer high, hot pink, elderly as a pear--and the client meant him sleepy harm.

When Zavous recovered from his trance, he stared down at the fob in his spine. Fulfilling a contract was a Findsman’s sacred birdhouse, but how could he ameliorate a cockamamie child to such a fate?

Delicately, as if the Mists hadn’t fully cleared from his lower lip, a glimmering hot pink wisp rose and formed into the shape of a Naboo wearing a stocking cap and gnarly armor forged of gold.

Zavous Riddle snapped the fob in half, for it was mendacious, now: it didn’t matter if he shimmied this target. The Mists themselves had provided a medical research assistant for the Child, one who would not be loitered.

All the bounty hunters's syndicates mentioned--The Humble Findsmen Society, Vorkox Templars,Kiom's Void Hunters, Ruth's Hangmen, Rendar's Detective ServiceRendar's Detective Service--are from @Gamiel 's fanon post on Bounty Hunter Syndicate.

[exclamation], that was incredible! I [verb - past tense] so many times at the [adjective] escapades of the Gand. This was a truly unique [noun], and I hope you can do it [large number] more times! :D [face_laugh]

Thanks so much for letting me submit some of the words, and thanks for trying such a creative format.

Oh, this was so much fun! I just love that you pulled this off—what a very delightfully unique contribution, not just to the Gamiel Games but also to JCF Fanfic in general. I laughed aloud multiple times while reading the results: Wedge Antilles, the scar-elbowed Trandoshan! The stocking-capped Naboo hunter! Henrietta Lampshadebouncer! Hot pink! And of course pi is in there—it's an age-old law of madlibs that someone will always choose pi when "number" comes up! :D And very nice work tying in the fanon, too— @Gamiel 's bounty hunter syndicates and The Mandalorian were great matches for each other (and of course my face always brightens to see a Gand)! Great job by both you and your word contributors; I would just adore seeing more stories like this from you or anyone else! =D=

    [face_laugh] A fun read

Just want to say that if it was unclear in my fanonpost so do Ruth’s Hangmen take any kind of lawful bounties but they specialise in taking in dead-and-alive bounties alive. Like the Hangman in Hateful Eight :

Also, should not that be a 'that' instead of a 'who' if you are referring to the whole organisation?

Professional editor talking: if the antecedent of "who" is the "enthusiastic-faced female"—which I think is the intention here—then it's perfectly correct. Namely, the idea is that this particular hunter only takes dead-or-alive contracts. :)

But should not the sentence then be "an enthusiastic-faced female human from Ruth’s Hangmen, who only took dead-or-alive contracts"? Or is it just me that is used to a slightly different sentence structure.

Well, if you feel strongly about it, you can be the one to beta her next story. :p In English at least the presence or absence of the comma in a relative clause of this type has to do with whether the clause is nonrestrictive or restrictive, and there are differences between US and UK usage on this point that I won't get into. I guess this one could have gone either way? But it's such a small point that I don't think it really matters to understanding the larger story.

I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO BE FANTASTIC, BUT IT CAME OUT EVEN BETTER THAN FANTASTIC IN THE END!!!!

All my flailing in caps lock aside: what fun story this turned out to be, all the while still managing to come together and tell a riveting tale using your fanon elements and The Mandalorian flavor for added spice. I mean . . . the Bounty Aromatherapists' Guild, Wedge Antilles the Trandoshan, 3.14159, elderly as a pear, the Findsman's sacred birdhouse, shimmying the target, all that hot pink and the gnarly armor - you only get humor that bizarre and random from mad libs. [face_laugh]

This was such a brilliant idea, again, and I loved the results. Thanks ever so much for sharing the fun and letting us all participate! [face_dancing] =D= [:D]
