    My money would be on age ratings. It was pretty commonplace in the late 90s / early 2000s to restrict explicit lesbian or gay content to an adult public, which the TFN boards weren't restricted to. (BTQIA+ were hardly even talked about back then).

    One of the then site owners was very religious (not the current owner). You couldn't even use 'Jesus' or 'God' unless talking about them in a religious sense.
