They just cancelled E3, I'm starting to doubt if Star Wars Celebration will take place this year.

It’s the last week in August, so there’s still time

All I want is an origin of the Jedi movie.

I'm pretty confident at this point that Celebration will either be postponed or cancelled this year...

Should Celebration be cancelled due to events in our galaxy, when/where, if at all, will they announce whatever was supposed to be announced at Celebration?

Yeah, but...a bad origin of the Jedi movie could sour the franchise. Is Lucasfilm ready to put that on the big screen? I think Lucasfilm could build up to eventually showing the origin of the Jedi in the way the comics and novels built up to Dawn of the Jedi.

I agree that rushing is never a good idea, but I’m not aware of any planned build-up to Dawn of the Jedi.

No, there is no planned build up to DOTJ. I'm talking about the past. In 2011, the build-up, if any, was through Old Republic.

Now I'm talking about the present: As Lucasfilm stands right now, it may put non-SW experts in charge of the Jedi Order origins. There is no way of showing the Jedi Order origins without building up to it through the Old Republic period. The following quote from ANH needs to be interpreted correctly and honored: " For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace and justice in the Old Republic... Before the dark times.... before the Empire... "

    Right.....?

There is no excuse to play dumb and pretend that over a thousand generations can be interpreted as one thousand years. That is folly. It's like tripping over a rock on purpose.

What I meant is that I don’t remember the Legends EU building up to Dawn of the Jedi.

Nor do I. There were some sporadic interviews in late-Fall of 2011 before the Feb 2012 releases of DOTJ #0 and #1. There were some easter eggs here and there. The Old Republic videos narrated by Master Gnost Dural have entries for the Dawn of the Jedi period. I read somewhere awhile back that Old Republic galactic history videos were planned to bridge Old Republic to Dawn of the Jedi. I was hoping those videos would surface someday, but sadly, no.

It will probably be postponed to 2021.

But if not, I'm expecting Mando Season 2 trailer and first episode or two, maybe some info about the Cassian show and maybe even some Kenobi info (if they didn't cancel it) and perhaps announcement of a new animated show (if they're actually working on it).

Sequel to Jedi: Fallen Order could also be announced.

I would love to see a roadmap for new movies as well, like they do for Marvel, but I'm not expecting it.

Right now here's everything I'm expecting at Celebration Anaheim 2020:

    *Kenobi series news
    *Cassian Andor series news
*The Mandalorian Season 2 news and hype (especially if the Ahsoka rumors are true)
*The High Republic books and comics being promoted
    *ESB 40th Anniversary Panel
    *Post-ROTJ cartoon announced
    *TFA 5th Anniversary Panel
*News about the next film or film series

All of that sounds reasonable, but I don't expect news about new films. I also don't think it's going to happen this year, and that it will probably be postponed.

Yeah, unless it is some sort of VR celebration, I would avoid speculating on a timeframe, because we have no idea when that might be feasible really; same with the movies. Not the time to go buying up tickets to concerts and celebratory events.

I'm guessing it probably will be a live-streamed Celebration but that's about all we can get in 2020.

    *Shrugs* I can wait.

I agree that Star Wars Celebration will probably be cancelled in August. I would also like to see something created online for fans to still be able to participate in.

There was an article that concerts might not be back until 2021. I hope this isn't the same for conventions. Honestly, I hope it's not true for concerts. But something we probably should start preparing ourselves mentally. :(

The thing is, big recreational events will be the absolute last thing to come back, given they are high risk/low necessity. I don't think there will be much in the way of summer concerts this year. It appears doubtful that this would be allowed by August, even in a best case scenario in the coming weeks and months (there is a lot of worry about the virus rebounding after it is under control). It would seem they will cancel it soon rather than allow it to draw close with uncertainty.
A lot can be learned by watching the other countries in Europe and Asia who are releasing from shelter in place orders, and sending people back to their lives. If it pops back up in those places, we know we have a hard struggle ahead in waiting for a vaccine. If not, it could be golden, and we could be back to our lives by the time of the elections in November. I would like to see them be able to start production on these SW shows/movies before the end of the year, let's all hope. We will mostly know how this will go by watching other countries between now and early May.

hey as long as they can finish Mandalorian S2 in time for this year that would be good, show is all shot, although I wonder how much of it they can cobble together remotely. Walking Dead couldn't even get it's season finale out without access to equipment and that was only a month before release.

As for celebration, I'm thinking maybe a series of announcements but I can't see the convention happening in August.

As I understand it, Mando has been filmed and is a go for the fall.

One other thing I should mention about events in CA- The UFC doggedly attempted to hold an event recently on tribal land at a casino in CA, which normally is out of the control of state officials. However, CA governor Newsom contacted Disney (the owner of ESPN, which broadcasts the UFC) and talked them into shutting the UFC down for Corona precautions.

My point is, the Anaheim event would be much more likely to happen in Texas than CA; Newsom isn't messing around, and Disney apparently will listen to him about events.
