Amph Census Favorite superhero?

The 1984 movie was a wasted opportunity, yes, but nevertheless Helen Slater in her 20s was absolutely perfect for the lead role. What a shame!

 

Ya know, I picked Cap, but if I had to pick powers I'd want he would not be at the top of the list. Hell, even Aquaman has some low end super strength and I could go safely swimming in any ocean I wanted.

 

I can't believe I'm the only one who voted for Hulk.

Doc Bruce Banner? Pelted by gamma rays? Sure, he turned into the Hulk, but ain’t he unglamorous?

 

I prefer the unbridled rage to fancy acrobatics.

 

IDK why you'd vote for all of them when Superking is the best one of the three.

 

My favorites are, in order: Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Robin/Nightwing, and Daredevil.

 

They're not nearly ready for public use yet, very dangerous unless you're an experienced sky diver and test pilot. People would be splattered all over the landscape. They also have very limited range, only a few minutes worth of fuel. Sure would be fun to try, though.

 

Batman and Spider-Man being the top two doesn't surprise me. What makes them epic is the fact that they have THE most recognizable villains they fight and almost anyone can name a couple where as trying to name one for Wonder Woman, Hulk, Iron Man, etc for the common person would be difficult. Heck, even Superman doesn't have that. Brainiac, Darkseid, Lex Luthor, Lobo; that's all I got. This is also probably due to all the games and media devoted to these two alone.

I'll admit though as I've gotten older Batman is still my favorite but I've become more appreciative of Superman.

 

I'm willing to bet more people would be able to recognize Luthor as a Superman villain than any of Spidernan's villains.

 

I think you’d be wrong based on market share and how Superman, unlike Spider-Man, periodically drops out of the public eye almost entirely. And honestly if people can point to Luthor they usually stop there, or manage a General Zod.

Neither would come anywhere near Batman’s villains, though; it’d be an argument for a distant second place.

 

I wasn't talking about market share per se. I'm talking about the sheer number of people who could name a single Superman villain (Lex Luthor) on a global scale vs those who can name a Spiderman one. Luthor's been Superman's arch nemesis for what, like 80 years or something? Adults in their 60s could name Luthor as Superman's villain just as they can name The Joker as Batman's. Do you really think that the average say even 50 year old, could name even one Spiderman villain?

 

There's gotta be some way to fix that.

I know! What if Superman hated being Superman? What if he acted as though everyone ran over Krypto? Oh! Oh! What if we used Jesus imagery?

Goblin is quite famous, isn't it? Also, I can assure you that Lex Luthor is not THAT famous for a younger audience. I'm barely aware of his existence myself. I just know that he is bald and super smart, I couldn't tell you anything else about him.

 

At this point the best way to get him back in the public eye is to do what they should've had to do a long time ago and let him enter the public domain. Unfortunately he's not as old as Mickey Mouse so that will never happen.

 

I think many could name more than Supermans. I can name several off the top of my head and I'm not even into Spider-Man, they're just that iconic. Venom, Carnage, Green Goblin, Doc Oct, Mysterio, Black Cat, Sandman, I could even go on describing ones I may not know the name of.

Besides what I mentioned above for Superman, I'd be hard pressed to mention many by name. I could describe a couple more but that's it.

Batman, I guarantee, average person could list 4 or 5 villains which is more than what you'd get for Superman or even Spider-Man, that is depending on if they've seen the newer movies or not. (I haven't, I'm going strictly by memory). He's just been in that public eye for so long.

 

Not on the list or a conventional hero but he's my favorite.
