Gaming Livin' La Vita Loca: The PlayStation 4 Discussion Thread

A short publicity cycle wouldn't be the end of the world for Sony, especially given the hype driving PS5 before it's even been properly revealed.

I'm being very careful not to praise Sony for it's decision to delay the PS5 reveal stream though. On the surface of things, Sony's excuse isn't just valid, it's an important statement in support of minority communities. However, it was said just last week that the date for the stream was still in flux, and I do have to wonder if this is a case of "woke branding" hijacking an important protest movement to excuse the delay.

 

I do wonder how their launch projections are looking with everything that's happened already (not to mention how much mass production has been affected), and who knows what other shocks to the markets there will be.

It is an easy excuse to use for delaying their stream. Maybe out of concern (yeah probably not), or rather they'll wait for a quieter week/month to get more attention for their new system. Not sure when that will be at this rate.

They probably won't delay Last of Us though, not this close, and not with Ghosts of Tsushima scheduled for next month already.

 

Knock it off with that Tom Holland movie crap Sony! Stop being cowards!

Sounds like Sony has moved their PS5 event to June 11. Here's hoping nothing else happens this week to delay it again.

Geoff Keighly will be having a pre-show streaming an hour early, so I'll probably watch that.

AHHHH it's HAPPENING!

 

I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but I'm gonna need some exciting software announcements. Things that come to mind: FFVII Remake Part 2, God of War sequel, another Uncharted adventure, Spider-man 2, or Jedi Fallen Order 2. I'm expecting to land somewhere between whelmed and underwhelmed.

Imagine in the darkness hearing "BOY!"

 

"Otacon, this is - heh heh heh - going to sound a little strange, but I think I'm... like... huge, heh."

"Snake, did you eat those brownies you grabbed out of the fridge?"

"Yeah, heh. Pretty tasty."

"Those were pot brownies, Snake."

"Pot brownies?"

 

Most of those have literally just started development.

Star Wars' next game is Project Maverick from Motive, Jason Schreier said that Insomniac's next game isn't Spider-man 2, and Square recently said that the next part of the FFVII remake is someways off. You might get a God of War or Uncharted announcement, and I'm sure Sony'll bring the fire though.

This is their big unveiling event, and have been radio silent on big announcements for the best part of two years now. (Not counting the reveal of the PS5 logo or tech specs.)

 

Beyond the software announcements, I'm curious if they'll actually come out with an official price for the console. Most "leaked" rumors have suggested a price at $500, but I saw one that pushed it up to $750.

 

The real question is will they use the bizarre fake audience graphic again? I hope so.

Suicide in this economy, even if it was ever on the table they won't do it.

God of War's story and gameplay were both VERY rewarding and satisfying. I hope you can work past your fears to play is some day.

 

I get Heels' hesitancy. Every time spiders show up in Skyrim, I break out the heavy duty fire spells!
