Man if this is true, Disney really does love the dark times for tv.

    Solo 2 [face_tired]

Edit: I like the idea if it's less focused on Solo and more of a collective show featuring Lando, Qira, Maul etc.

I think it be all the shows turn into one big show about Han and Chewie, Lando, Maul and Qira the Crimson Dawn And Black Sun.

All these Disney + tv shows are going to have big production budgets.

From what I hear things like the Volume make things actually cheaper

Cheaper for the accountants to count the dollars and the lawyers to write up the contracts

It's cheaper because they can reuse props, costumes, digital models, sound fx, etc., etc. All of the shows being in the same time period is by design to accommodate this. It's the same with the Mandalorian. It's close enough to the OT era to get away with the same thing. This is all just business, folks. Make as much as you can, spend as little as you can.

Would'nt Cassian be more Rebellion Era, rather then Dark Times?

So as a show or a made-for-TV movie?

Either way, I'm happy. I thought Solo was great (it had strong shades of the A.C Crispin trilogy, which I loved) and really had a lot of further potential to explore.

    Are they?

See, I always remembered Dark Times being the formation of the Empire up to a couple years before ANH when the civil war starts, at which point the Rebellion Era begins (both, of course, being part of the in-universe Imperial Era).

The Galactic Civil War era, which lasted only five years, would be distinct from the Dark Times, but that doesn't start until Rogue One. Prior to Rogue One, there's no unified Rebellion and therefore no unified resistance against the Empire, hence the ongoing Dark Times until the Battle of Scariff.

It's all just semantics, though, and more importantly: not real :p

I always felt/considered the civil war and it's assosiated era to start around 2 BBY (when Mon Mothma forms the Rebellion at Dantooine in canon and when Starkiller forms it in Legends).

    One's perception is one's reality, so...….I believe! [face_hypnotized]

"It's true. The Force, the Jedi...all of it. It's ALL true."

I just figured the dark times were the period the Empire was spreading and taking root in the Galaxy-basically from the end of ROTS up until about a year before Rogue One. The later seasons of Rebels have several episodes that cover the "early days" of the official formation of the Rebel Alliance. The way it seems to be portrayed there is as some sort of group of separate factions across the galaxy that have been fighting on their own, but they are not all yet unified as one single alliance, although they have been fighting against the Empire on their own. Then, yes with the events of Rogue one, these separate factions are convinced to come together as a result of the success of the battle of Scarif. I had kind of seen the Battle of Scarif as kind of the official beginning of the galactic civil war.

It’s all based on Obi-Wan’s line in ANH so I don’t know if the “dark times” is even an official term in the GFFA. But the way I’ve always interpreted it was it began with the death of the “more civilized age” i.e. the fall of the Republic/rise of the Empire and the Jedi Purge. So the end of the dark times would then be the defeat of the Empire and the rise of the New Republic.

Wouldn't the Rebellion Era and Dark Times be the same time period? I thought the Rebellion was started all the way back during ROTS by Padme, Bail Organa and Mon Mothma. Seems to me like the Dark Times goes from Order 66 all the way until Battle of Yavin. They overlap.

I wouldn't call a Solo series utterly awful :D . I'm not excited about the Obi Wan or Cassian series at all but anything Solo related would have me hyped as hell.

I wonder how many Volumes Disney has now, and how many more are in the pipeline. I can't imagine there being just a singular set, considering how many shows and films are in the works..... unless the technology is so expensive that they need to juggle multiple productions on a tight schedule around one Volume.
