Btw, I’d appreciate any recommendations to catch me up. Teams, players, stats, highlights (particularly those that don’t require context), moments. Anything, say, after 2010? I remember a little from 2010-2012, but not much.

I know about the Galarraga perfect game, that was outrageous here.

Thanks to the JCC, I heard about Cubs/Indians. There was a lot of excitement here, and I presume around the baseball world. That’s one I wanted to watch but just couldn’t pick up at the very end like that. Wish I could have started at the beginning of that season.

Heard about the Royals thanks to the JCC, too. Pretty surprising since they were garbage throughout my baseball watching life, and I considered them a poorly run franchise.

Speaking of Royals, I’m watching them right now, and seeing Mondesi’s kid stretch a ground ball single up the middle into a double was surreal. Apparently a ton of guys I grew up watching have kids in the league now. Vlad, Biggio, Bichette, etc.

 

Are you familiar with the Astros cheating scandal? That's a huge chunk of baseball history from the last few years.

I am. I didn’t get into it too deeply, but they were stealing signals on their way to a WS win. I’ve always hated sign stealing, and the fact that no players were punished is legitimately outrageous.

There's last year's World Series, where the away team went 7-0 for the first time ever in any major professional sports series--a feat that many say will never be repeated in our lifetime.

(And the winner of that series was the Washington Nationals, which was the city's first MLB title since the Senators in 1924.)

That's how that game ended on my birthday in '17. Thankfully it was made all-the-niiiiicer by the Dodgers clinching their first pennant since '88 a few nights later at Wrigley, but unfortunately lost a thriller of a 7-game World Series (game 7 being at Dodger Stadium) to these *******s...

So happy that game got postponed. I did not think the Cardinals were over their cases at all. They need at least another few days of quarantine time. All of this btw points to the fact that we need to scrap our current testing system and start over going with antigen strip test that people can do at home.
