Lucas felt betrayed by Disney

    Why would they try and reboot the other movies though? What do they gain from that?

    Disney may be blind with greed, just like every other megacorporation, but they are at least not pants-********** stupid. They know full well that messing with Lucas's movies would be poisoning the well.

    Besides, The Force Awakens was already essentially a soft-reboot of A New Hope. Why would they remake a movie that they already practically remade less than 10 years ago? It makes no sense.

    That would only work if as in the case of Pixar and Marvel where basically most of the the people who were already in charge had stayed. In those cases the companies had made movies, were making movies currently and planning more to be made.

    For that to work he would needed to have at least made one movie and have started some heavy pre-production for others before selling. What looks so odd now is the hiring of Kennedy after he agreed to sell. In that sense Disney endorsed it by not objecting but in another it wouldn't really matter because they knew she'd drop his stories in a second when asked to. It's not like if it were Rick McCallum who would make a point of being fired to protect Lucas' stories.
