ST-Comparison

01. TROS - Within the ST the best balance of old stuff, new stuff, worldbuilding, lore, reveals and entertainment. (8,5/10)

02. TFA - Everytime a funride but unfortunately the least creative one in the ST. Mystery-Boxes and music are top. (8/10)

03. TLJ - Was “saved“ by Episode IX. Has still some weak points in my opinion. But meanwhile I can concentrate more on the good aspects. (7/10)

Without a doubt TROS is the best of the ST simply because the original trilogy characters had amazing send offs :

1. The Luke of old
2. Han Solo with a meaningful addition to Kylo Ren's redemption
3. Leia at her best even though Carrie Fisher wasn't even there
4. Lando back to his best like he never left
5. C3PO awesome send off with a meaningful role
6. Chewbacca because not only was he great but he finally got his medal

 

These poll results are amazingly close.

 

TLJ - 9.5/10. I just love this film.

TROS - 6/10. I don't hate it however it feels pretty sterile and as a finale pretty disappointing. I also don't know that there's any scene in this film that I find truly memorable. Every SW saga film had a standout sequence until Episode 9.

TFA - 6/10. I put TROS over TFA because at least TROS didn't feel like a rehash. However this has some memorable scenes like Rey's introduction for example.

 

I understand that TROS does not have anything to compare with Yoda lifting the X-Wing on ESB, but for TROS, I consider a few memorable scenes.

The scene when Lando arrives with the huge amount of ships. Both scenes with Rey and Kylo on Pasaana. The worm healing scene.

But yes, the poll is very balanced. Impressive.

i voted equally. the first six were a tough act to follow but I thought the sequels were more than worthy of following them.

For me, it goes -

So for me, they did get better as it went along. While there are moments I dislike with TLJ - namely the Leia flying scene, I thought that was really stupid, I thought for the most part it was great because it was so different in tone. The Throne Room scene is one of my favourite moments from the entire saga.

 

Interesting to see the balance. I happen to agree with it too. The three films are equally bad.

 

I'm almost tempted to change my vote to TROS and even it out.

This is a really tough question for me. There are things I admire and things I don't admire about each film. I guess would have to say TFA because it's the one I've watched the most, and that has to count for something. Tomorrow I may have a different answer.
