Hell, yeah, they should pursue any legal action for him stealing their business without consent.

The Eponym says she's going to steal my Hello Kitty keys. She said she'll steal your keys and then give them back.

I agree he should go but the narrative has already been established; protests lead to chaos in Kenosha. The media has seen to that. Unfortunately it's one that is tilted in Trump's favor. He's going to visit burned out businesses, promise federal assistance for owners to rebuild (whether or not that ever materializes will be irrelevant, he get points for the promise), and vow to prevent the same thing happening elsewhere.

For Biden it would be all about damage control. Trying to show support for protest while putting separation between that and the looting and property destruction. He's done that already on social media but going there would shine a bigger spotlight on it, so he should go.

Yeah it's definitely a problem when even dead people are pissed at you.

The Eponym says she's going to steal my Hello Kitty keys.

Looks like someone isn't going to be invited back on MSNBC. (She is not a reporter like the tweet says.) The Democrats have done a great job attracting the youths!

Not a scientific sample of course, but it's not hard to grasp that people on the streets may not be interested in Status Quo Joe.

I don't think she stated it correctly as sort of a passive inattention. It was an active exclusion of any messaging that might not appeal to older middle class/upper middle class voters who theoretically might regret having voted for Trump in 2016. It's all about trying to tie up Florida and Wisconsin and Pennsylvania and Michigan. The typical desperation not to repeat the mistakes of the last election overwhelming all other considerations for how this thing might easily be lost.

I'm shocked that the people who want change want the guy who actively does not want change. Biden/Harris has to be one of the worst picks for this moment in time. Months of protesting againt the treatment of black people at the hands of police, and the way they decide to capitalize on it is with the guy who gave them more power and is buddies with segregationists and a prosecutor known for locking up minorities and had to drop out because she was being destroyed in her own state. If they lose, honestly, there shouldn't be any surprise. It's like they're actively trying to.

Shows how tone deaf the Democratic Party are.

Trump is a **** and a disaster and unfit to be POTUS no question on that however if you are about (lasting and meaningful long term) change not simply power for it's own sake you choose far better candidates.

I remember back when gamergate was a thing, legacy/liberal media struggled to cover it in a way that made sense and communicated the nuances of what made it different from previous right-wing movements. They settled for just saying it was "sexism", but that glossed over the unusual alliances being formed between traditional misogyny, anti-consumerism, "rational" discourse types, tech-futurists, etc. Similarly, media was very late in understanding what exactly the alt-right was in 2016 and how they were dominating youth politics, which was very helpful to Trump.

Now they are dropping the ball again I fear, in failing to understand the political divides between liberals and leftists, and the ways that pro-Trump conspiracy theories have mutated to attract suburban women who Democrats have tried so hard to win over. Part of the problem is that these ancillary political movements are direct competitors to legacy media through Facebook, Youtube, etc., which disincentivizes investigation. Like with Trump, media still struggles to critically cover politics which don't adhere to formal public expectation.

It's never just about the bad things the person/party in power did. It's also about the good things his opponent/opposition party can do and the Democrats are short on big promises.

    @Darth Guy
    Is it?
Historically, when there is a major crisis the party in the opposition wins the following elections.
It happened with Carter, Bush, the other Bush...
This time, the screw up is particularly shocking, so...

I'm gonna agree with you @3sm1r - usually a bad or even a plummeting economy is poison for an incumbent running for reelection, although I believe some people have called into question the role that Ross Perot running as an independent may have had in Bill Clinton's victory.
And honestly, I find it hard to believe many people would reward any sitting president when there's a huge crisis that not only has killed hundreds of thousands but also led to millions of people losing their jobs, thousands of small businesses shutting down, sometimes permanently, and a record number of nationwide chains declaring bankruptcy.
OTOH millions of Americans have made it a habit of voting against their own economic interests for a very long time now. Why they believe in pipe dreams isn't always easy to understand, at least for me.

After Carter they brought in Reagan, for Bush 1 they got Clinton, for Bush 2 Obama. Now they're trying to do it with . . . Biden? I struggle to see him filling those shoes, he's just not that caliber of politician, doesn't have the charisma.

I've been saying that Biden will lose since day one. I am just expressing my frustration because it's beyond embarrassing that an incumbent whose stupidity led to almost 200k deaths has still decent chances to be reelected.

It's never enough to just not be the devil you know. It's a thing I run into when arguing for socialism. Capitalism is beating the **** out of people and they still choose it because they don't see the benefit any other economic system has. It's not enough for me to say "socialism isn't capitalism." We have to give people a thing they want. Same thing when it comes to presidential elections. It's not enough for Biden to not be Trump. Biden needs to be something the people want. People will pick getting beaten the **** out of by the devil they know over an unknown.

I get Joe/Kamala sucks. But I can't survive another four years of Trump. Mentally. Emotionally. And now thanks to COVID, physically. So selfishly for my sake, I hope these people vote for Joe/Kamala just to get Trump out. I don't much care who they vote for after that. Primary every Democrat for all I care. But breaking Trump and the GOP this time has to be the goal. Because there is little progress (Democrats) and then there is reversing progress for generations (Republicans).

I still think it should have been Warren. I truly wish Bernie had dropped out after his heart attack and endorsed Warren. Had he done so, I truly don't think there would have been a rise of several of the others. Biden likely would have still done badly in Iowa and New Hampshire but still won South Carolina. However, Elizabeth would likely have won Iowa as most people didn't leave her for Pete until she started to fade in polls thanks, in part, due to the January spat and with Bernie out, New Hampshire as well. And then I think Super Tuesday would have gone very different. However, had she had Bernie as a surrogate by that point, she would have been on top. Had Bloomberg been stupid enough to enter again, she would have likely killed him sooner and rode that wave to more votes. It's pretty clear that Julian Castro was her VP pick so she would have had a strong VP and she would be campaigning not just on Trump's failures, but also all of her plans on how to fix it and she could explain it in five minutes or less.

And the big one- Medicare for all would be her easiest argument thanks to this crisis. That and the wealth tax thanks to have Jeff Bezos made out. Trump hemming and hawing 'Pochantas' as riots over the treatment of black men and women goes on would likely not work the way he thinks. And, she'd be far more active than Joe. She did go out and speak to protestors (so did Joe). She has no issue with interviews and can explain her plans. She would have been a massive boon to the progressive wing as she would have literally had a mandate to push Medicare for all through if she won big enough. And yeah, Wall Street would be ticked, but even Obama had started to get them to come around back in the Fall of last year. Unfortunately, some of Bernie's people and Liz's people got into a spat and managed to bring both candidates down in the long run. And so we all lost. So now, we have to suck it up and go with Joe/Kamala or roll the dice on another four years of Trump. Both options suck, but one will almost surely kill us faster.

I will survive Joe/Kamala much better, because Joe won’t appoint Betsy DeVos or another like her for Secretary of Education.

Capitalism creates more problems than it solves. I agree. The problem is that capitalism today is anti-humanitarian, anti-environmental, and way too tunnel-visioned. That's how I would put it. It creates too much suffering for people as a whole. I think the issue, Lord Vivec, and I hate how both my laptop and computer want to change the spelling of your cool username, is that too many people have grown accustomed to the way things are. Thus, wakening them up is a difficult grind.

Hopefully there is a Super PAC that can hit back, or at least be as effective as the Lincoln Project has been. Their ads are brutal. Shame they're not on TV.

OTOH millions of Americans have made it a habit of voting against their own economic interests for a very long time now. Why they believe in pipe dreams isn't always easy to understand, at least for me.

The answer is simple: we live in a post-fact society where roughly half the population follows their 'beliefs', objective reality be damned. Given how easily those with that mindset can be swayed by a strongman, no wonder they swallow everything they're being fed by Trump.
