Personally, I was proposing putting spam in an entire sub-forum, not a tag.

I'm guessing you mean thrown somewhere else, which is what opening a new subforum would basically be - a concession that:

"People who don't want to see 'spam threads', are right in objecting to seeing them, so we'll move them all somewhere that they wouldn't see them unless they actually entered the specifically marked location".

Is the JCC the only part of the boards you frequent?

Nope. I frequent most of the boards (especially Literature).

This image shows discussion, which I do not object to. I've specifically insisted that movie and television discussion threads stay in the JCC.

What this image does not show is: coffee, water, water, coffee, etc

And no one wants anyone to stop enjoying their spam. We just want them to enjoy it somewhere else.

Arguing against this is to say you are right in insisting on your spam. Why the **** do you get to spam the JCC? Everywhere else on the internet considers spam to be a plague. We all have this thing in our email called a spam folder; a program filters spam out and sends it to a specifically marked location before we even see it.

Can't make that concession, huh? You would have people just stop visiting the Jedi Council Forums entirely, which is what is happening, than take your spamming to its own dedicated subforum. Great.

Yeah, I was going to ask if it was appropriate in the Literature forum for users to clog up half the page with "what are you putting up your butt" or "post a picture of a random wrestler" threads.

I think "game threads" is a more accurate description in a great many cases.

Hence my supporting giving all these threads the JCC Games tag.

The main reason I object to the "new subforum" proposal is because it's a lot more work for the mods - as they have repeatedly pointed out.

Is it me, or have the spam threads increased in both traffic and variety since the issue was raised?

As the creator of one of the new ones, you'd know better than I would where the increase in variety comes from.

That’s a parody thread. The difference is subtle I agree.

Parody threads are a age old JCC tradition. Only a few can pull them off effectively, Punk and JP being two of them.

Might I also add, that all y’all spam lovers are conspicuous by your absence in all my recent JCC tagged threads (which have been ******* awesome btw (even if I do say so myself)).

    But I appreciate you’re busy.

Because we're above trolling threads that we think clutter up the forum. :D We know you enjoy posting in those threads, and we wouldn't dream of spoiling your fun. :D

    They have reached insane levels.
Last time I checked there were 16 spam threads just in the first page.

Also, former parody threads have been transformed into well-structured spam threads, like answer a question with a question.
Normally, people would have some fun when the thread is made for the silliness of it and then move on and let it die, but No, compulsive posters started loving it and now it's constantly on the top 10.

Tightening up the rules on what new threads can be created, plus merging the ones that most deserve to be merged, will make a difference, though how much of a difference, I don't know.

I've said I support the idea of merges, to reduce the number to manageable levels.

not to be a stick in the mud...but being familiar with forum software, no it really isn't.
Especially if it's just dragging census and games from archives and clicking 'allow replies to this forum' would take 5 minutes.

and then promoting a couple of users as mods from the hundreds they could select from that post here on these boards.

But anyway, it's not gonna happen anyway, so...whatevs

The forum possibility was ruled out already, but maybe there could a trial with such an idea?

Open a new forum or, heck, move all the +1 threads to an existing unused forum for a period of two or so weeks and see how it goes.

Still leaves the issue of moderation, I know, but I thought we all agreed an unholy duumvirate of Juliet and an undead Zaz would work...
