Galadriel stood poised on the precipice of choice. Long years of struggle and endeavor with such an uncertain outcome ... Was it worth it? Would it be? Could she grasp this facet of power, hold it within her grasp and use it to the good? Or would it warp and twist her heart and spirit, making it vile and tainted for all time?

No, she repudiated the false allure of the One Ring and the mirage of quick self-gratification.

The price to her own sense of self, of all that she had striven to uphold would be forever lost to her, as would the final and much-longed-for return to Valinor, the Deathless, unspoiled haven.

 

Thanks so much. I love reading and writing character studies, and Galadriel is such a superb one to focus on; her unflagging courage and wisdom and sense of purpose through so long a time and through so many hardships is inspiring!

 

Very well done, Nyota! I always enjoy your Galadriel pieces. The temptation of the One Ring is beyond no one, even Galadriel. However, she is wise and knows well enough how it's power will change her for the worse.
