I voted for Say it Ain't So. It has brought me the most joy over the years.

****. I’m torn between Common People and The Mercy Seat.

Do you kick off a playlist with The Mercy Seat, is what I keep coming back to?

Thanks @JoinTheSchwarz for the idea for this thread.

I remember one time in the nineties, when I was going home after partying in town. It was like 4am. The streets were quiet. I was on my bike. I passed a bus stop. There was a girl at the bus stop, rocking out to the music on her walkman. She wore a short skirt and a beret. When I passed, she signaled me. I stopped. She said 'you have to listen to this music!'

    It was Pulp.

    Vote Pulp.

Common People was the best song to come out of Britpop, and that's an undeniable fact.

    Vote Common People.

As this nightmare I’ve constructed is coming together, I feel the need to follow this post up by promising right now that the concept was high whereas I was sober.

It is surprisingly good yes. Thank Ben Folds for that, good producing. But Pulp is still better.

Jarvis Cocker bumrushing Michael Jackson’s Jesus impersonation was one of the greatest moments of the 90’s

    Pulp gets my vote

When I lived in London my flatmates and I devised a ritual: at the end of every day, we would play Common People full volume in the small room above a Camden pub that we shared and jump and scream along to its lyrics.

That song encapsulated the British M25 Illegal rave scene experience. He really ******* nailed it on that one

You know, I'm expecting more from the playlists. I want Watto-style anecdotes, or the stupidly deep reasons that took you to include a particular song and not another. Mixtapes need to be organic, palpitating with the blood of their creators, and-- oh god I'm going full High Fidelity, aren't I?
