Speaking of which, it's been a solid twenty years since a lot of people consistently started to try and cancel grammar, spelling and punctuation on the pretext it was faster for them to violate all three. The results have been mixed.

Gonna use this as a segue to once again wonder why CEOs don't get "cancelled" for ****ty treatment of workers and things like that while nobodies and normal folk get cancelled for posting nonsense on twitter.

 

Agreed. We need to be canceling way more people than we are now.

Because the ruling class benefits from the former, and benefits from canceling people from the latter (as a distraction, as a division and to scare people into submission)

 

I believe the culture war has gone too far insofar as that people with widely different opinions have trouble settling basic disputes and minding their own business.

 

There are views I can’t accept though like liking trump. I can no longer do that. I think that’s the point. People are going to extreme ends of the spectrum more and more. That’s why no one can agree

 

Definitely agree. I never had any trump supporters on mine that I met post-2014, but I have been removing some of my pre-2014 contacts over their support of Trump. I just can't deal with that toxicity any longer. I either feel bad for them for believing it, or I am weary of what they support.

 

The only person I still am friends with that I think supports trump was my former babysitter. I know she is a hard core republican which is weird as she always supported gay marriage, but people are weird. I could never bring myself to ask her if she liked trump or not. So now she just sits on my Instagram friends list until the day I get to courage to ask.

 

I think worker-wise all the diversity training and the way cancel culture factors in is awful, because it is just used as a tool for a company to cover its own *** and excuse union busting. But I think a lot of folks need to STFU and stop acting like that is the same thing and should be referred to with the same term. I have zero tolerance for the attitude that cancel culture can be both a wendy's employee getting fired over social media posts, AND people being angry at a celebrity for doing something wrong or offensive.
