    Particularly, the mentally ill.

You know how there is this current relevant drive to get people to stop calling the police to deal with people who struggle with mental illness? Batman is a billionaire who puts on an S&M suit to go out at night and beat the hell of people who need psychiatric help.

Batman also tackles down rich bad guys too. Batman fights evil forces of all sorts of faces.

Gotham city is controlled by both the criminal underworld and corruption in the government branches of the city itself.

Commissioner Gordon is the most moderate to take bite out of crime without being a superhero and that’s why Batman always has his back and protection, and if Jim Gordon is killed, Gotham city would be 10 times as dangerous than it already is.

I think in its original incarnation at least, Batman simply took out the bad guys - they were just plain evil guys, period. The character was created when we were fighting actual fascists in Europe. And being aimed at kids, like most comics, it was just good vs evil, nothing complicated - the criminals were bad guys because they stole and killed and committed crimes against innocent Gotham citizens. They deserved to be turned over to the police for appropriate punishment.
Other incarnations have made things a bit more complicated, imho. We could probably debate the issue for weeks.

Does Batman actually care about inequality though? I think he mostly just likes having an excuse to dress up and punch people so he never has to come to emotional terms with his dead parents.

Much like Sherlock Holmes doesn’t really hate crime, but solving mysteries gives him something to do other than tons of coke.

No, but it's a major cause of the crime he hates so much.

Doesn't Bruce Wayne fund a lot of initiatives to help the needy? (At least in some incarnations of Batman)

From the info I was able to find online, he does a lot of philanthropic work through the Wayne Foundations:
He has two Wayne Foundations. The Martha Wayne Foundation which deals with family and kid stuff--helping "at-risk" youth, subsidizing education programs. The Thomas Wayne Foundation is for medical stuff. He does other stuff, but the Wayne Foundations are his babies.

There also other Batman continuity’s that Thomas Wayne was a a greedy capitalist too.

I could be wrong but each Batman stand-alone universes have some Differences as well.

I think that may happen in some continuities, yes, Bruce trying to make up for the sins of the father because his parents' murder showed him inequality has dangerous side effects, and nobody is safe when there is too much of it.

We have a real dangerous like Batman Villain which is penguin and boss Maroni in power and he is sure no two face or mr freeze because in some comic books they find redemption.

This villain is Donald Trump pure evil. Batman relates to real evil systems that can happen in real life, while x men relates to civil rights and fights against discrimination. Buts it’s not realistic about supernatural things or Science fiction. Those parts are made up.

Except for the fact that science fiction stuff is a little more realistic than Fantasy or supernatural things.

Batman. It will always be Batman for three reasons:

    1) [IMG]

    2)[IMG]

    3) [IMG]

No other character has evolved so well over the years and translated into so many mediums so flawlessly. There is a reason studios keep pumping out new Batman movies. He's a character that appeals to so many. Some heroes are certainly better people, but the thing about Batman is he is an ordinary man with the resources to be extraordinary. Sure, Iron Man comes close, but the main difference is Batman gets physical whereas Iron Man still relies on cutting edge tech suits to do much of the work.

As to the whole - Batman beats up the mentally ill. I think the best examples of Batman remain the animated series and yes the Adam West Batman to see that his character goes beyond that. Comics Batman may be a jerk, but Animated Batman spent a lot of time and money trying to rehabilitate a lot of people.

I am surprised that you don’t pick Christian bale as Batman. I loved the dark knight trilogy.

I really hope Robert Pattinson can deliver on The Batman movie, but judging by trailer it looks pretty sick. But unfortunately at the same time, you can’t judge a book by its cover or a movie or a tv show by its trailer.

    Etrigan the demon/Jason Blood.

Started as a side character in Batman comics and teamed up wirh Batman a few times

Jason Blood is a knight of the Round table who Merlin bonded with Etrigan, Merlin's demonic half brother. This makes Blood functionally immortal. Has alot of powers but Blood is tormented by being half demon and struggles with self doubt.

Also has one of the coolest ways to change to and from his demonic form. A poem
    To become Etrigan:
"Change! Change! O form of man,
    Free the prince forever damned!
Boil the blood in the heart for fire!
Gone! Gone! O form of man
    And rise the demon Etrigan.

    To change back to human
    Gone now, O Etrigan
And Rise again (or risr once more)the Form of Man

Yeah a 16 issue run that kirby could. Not finish fast enough because DC forces him to create a horor character and would not let him work on the fourth world stuff till he did 16 issues.

He was in other comics and had orher runs but is most know for his team ups with Batman since they both work out of Gotham.

The Demon didn't start until most of the Fourth World titles had been cancelled. It just seems weird to claim one of Kirby's more famous DC creations began as a "Batman side character," even if that is what he turned into for a while there after the initial run.

Edit: And, to be fair, I'm only balking a bit because I also like Etrigan. He deserves better. :p
