That's very unfortunate. It's not nice, I can tell you. Mind you, I got off lightly: a friend of my got a cancerous growth in her eye and though she had surgery and was given the all clear, she is now blind in that eye.

My left eye is totally crap. If I shut my right, after a while things come into focus more, but once I start using both eyes my right is back to doing all the work.

These eyes are crying. These eyes have seen a lot of loves but they're never gonna see another one like I had with you.

But seriously, got LASIK about 11 years ago and definitely recommend it. I do wish for Terminator night vision though.

No. My left eye has been weak since my teens, and I habitually shut my right to force my left to get back in the game. My last eye check-up was years ago, and I was worried they might tell me I had serious problems, but they didn't. I should get them checked out now, but I'm in an at-risk category for Covid, so it's not a big priority.

I have high eye pressure so I have to take daily eye drops to bring the pressure down. Last time I went to the eye clinic at the local hospital the specialist I saw didn't think I was developing glaucoma - I just have slightly thicker corneas. However they told me to stay on the drops.

As long as I'm wearing either contacts or glasses, good. Without, terrible. I'm not even a candidate for LASIK. I started wearing glasses in kindergarten.

Other than being myopic and astigmatic since childhood, my eyes feel great.

My arms have become shorter, though.

When I got my last pair, I was told.my next pair would need to be bifocals. I definitely need them now, because I can't read small print, even with my glasses on.

That literally seemed to happen to me overnight. I was shortsighted for years, but could read without glasses. Then one day I realised I could no longer read without glasses and needed to get bifocals.

Oh dear, yes, the small print. The thing I always annoy people with because I actually read it before signing... For now a pocket magnifying glass does the trick, and gets a laugh from others every now and then.

Your eyes can deceive you. Don't trust them.

Most of my life, I had 20/15 vision, I think I'm down to 20/20 now. A few years ago I picked up a pair of drug store glasses off the rack to read very fine print. That's all I need for now. Fingers crossed I'll stay that way for a while.

@solojones I'm interested in what you went through with LASIK, if you don't mind.

My contact lenses eventually failed me. I got an eye infection called bilateral conjuctivitis. That was when I returned to wearing glasses. I normally only wear them when I drive or I'm under pressure.

I looked at LASIK back in 2015 as a cure all. Someone later told me problems about LASIK. I'm still on the fence about getting LASIK or another corrective surgery. Insurance obviously doesn't cover it.

I did the bladeless LASIK. They did both eyes at once, which was a little scary but I also went to the top eye surgeon in the country who happens to be in my city.

So basically they gave me some Valium 30 minutes ahead of time, then I just laid there while they used the lasers to slice my eyes open and reshape them.

Honestly, it took about an hour total and was easy and painless.

As to recovery, that was also easy. A day or so of being incredibly sensitive to light (just went in the basement AND wore sunglasses down there for a day). But I could already see better right away in spite of this.

Totally healed within a few days. The body and science are amazing!

Over the past couple of years, my right eye has become slightly more challenged by focusing on things up close, but its long-distance acuity is better than my left eye.
I have a bunch of Magic Eye books that I recently started looking at again (the images inside, not merely looking at the books).
Getting into these 3D images does seem to be a form of ocular exercise. In fact, one of my books is MAGIC EYE - Beyond 3D - Improve Your Vision - Reduce Computer Eye Strain, Stress & More. Of course, it's better to view these autostereograms in book form, since reflections from a monitor can be disruptive, along with the blue light from screens being a factor in vision health. Speaking of which, I'm going to pick up a new pair of blue light glasses today, as my current hand-me-downs are like the ones on the cover of The Far Side Gallery 4. Sure, very stylish, but I want something more rectangular.
By the way, Mallrats 2 is in the works.

Glasses since grade 3, eyesight is pretty crap. I vastly prefer contacts after having switched to them in high school, but I know for some people it dries out their eyes too much. I don't know how keep I am on getting Lasik.

I resisted getting gasses for years, left eye near-sighted,right eye far-sighted. By the time I did I needed bifocals and over the course of 5 years had gotten 2 different pairs of progressive bifocals that I could never adjust to. After a months of trying each and feeling sick from the dizziness I just put them away in a drawer never to see the light of day again.

Then when my driver's license was due 8 years ago, I was told I'd my eyes were getting bad and to check out glasses.

Last year a couple months before my birthday I finally went to check out glasses again and after talking with the eye doctor we decided on plain bifocals which work amazingly. Got a new pair yesteday and after getting them fit, was pleased to discover my eyesight is now more like 20/10. :D :D

The drugs make a big difference. But they leave me vulnerable to cancer, amongst other things. I had a skin-cancer tumour removed the other year. You get a tumour on your forehead, it puts zits into perspective!
