While I enjoyed them, Her and The Lobster didn't come to my mind at all-- the latter mostly because I think of it as just "weird."

Nah- seeing that in IMAX was incredible. Even the dirt was gorgeous- and, at that scale, you could see every grain of it! :)

I actually watched Edge Of Tomorrow twice. That's rare. I might watch Pacific Rim again, because I enjoyed that one too.

Ah yes, famous 2010s films. I recommend A Trip to the Moon.

I didn’t like Arrival or Ex Machina, and I think Fury Road is slightly overrated.

Prometheus gets a lot of flak but I like it; I think I see it very differently from others. I don’t care about any of the lore or supposed “questions”; I love it for the body horror. I mean, that’s why people liked Alien to begin with, not for deep backstory.

I know I quite liked this, but I don't remember much other than it's about people with super-human powers.

While it certainly wasn't to everyone's sensibilities, Ex Machina was fairly well conceived.

I was trying (but failing) to imply I was struggling to think of Sci Fi films. from the 10's than I recall seeing

I know it wont get a lot of agreement, but I love Elysium.
Blomkamp loves his industrial robots and grungy cyberpunk high tech lowlifes.

Do the new Planet of the Apes movies fit in here?

Alita BattleAngel? Is that pushing too far into fantasy?

I know people found Ad Astra a bit of a downer, but I keep playing it again. It has that dreamlike quality.

My personal faves: Her, Ex Machina, and Blade Runner 2049.

Her had real "staying power" with me. My love for the original Blade Runner borders on obsession:p, but I think 2049 was a very worthy sequel.

    Predestination. 10 Cloverfield Lane. Melancholia.
Speaking of overrated Gravity your table is ready.

    Agree 100% on Prometheus.

But for me Fury Road is the movie of the decade, regardless of its genre. Just so damn rewatchable for a number of reasons.

the Martian was pretty middle of the road if you ask me, surprised it’s gotten so many mentions

I’ll echo ex machina, under the skin, arrival, her (i guess it is sci fi?), and the lobster (is it sci fi?) and throw in melancholia too

I really liked Elysium, too. The robots were used in new and devastating ways. An uncaring robot doctor, a ****ing robot parole officer telling you to stop talking.
