Milestones? We're talking of a kid here, not a project, right?

 

Developmental milestones. Skills kids should have at this age. For example, my kiddo still sometimes needs help sleeping through the night. Most kids her age know how to manage this and know how to cope with middle of the night wake ups. We are working on it.

 

The skill you need to develop is politely telling people to stfu, while you learn and develop your own parenting style.

 

exactly. it's not their kid. you're the parent. i don't see how else you deal with them besides just being up front about it, telling them that whilst you appreciate they have the kids best interest at heart and are only trying to help, that you have things under control and frankly their advice is not required and isn't helping. if they continue to not respect your wishes then escalate further (perhaps the dad needs to step in, given it's his parents we're talking about here, or perhaps they have a break from seeing the kid until they learn to respect where you're coming from).

 

Yeah, what does Mike have to say about it? Are they lecturing him, as well, or just you?

 

Double post, but also.... the origins of "brat," so you can inform them of what they are calling your daughter (and you):
