Science Fiction movies from the last decade that I have seen and liked (that I can think of right now):

    Alita: Battle Angel
    Dredd
    Ghost in the Shell
    Elysium
    Looper
    Riddick
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets
    John Carter
    Bunraku
    Ready Player One
    Mad Max: Fury Road
    Robocop
    Pacific Rim
    Jupiter Ascending
    Cowboys vs Aliens
    Jurassic World
    Star Trek Beyond
    Guardians of the Galaxy
    Guardians of the Galaxy II
    Logan

They are not in any order.

EDIT: had written "Hirokin" by mistake, I ment "Bunraku". Hirokin is okey at best.

“Akita: Battle Angel” was good fun, and well-made. I hope we’ll get a sequel some day.

I enjoyed the RoboCop remake. It had some great ideas. But, I wish some of its loftier ideas had been worked into its own story rather than into a remake of a classic.

I like some of Jupiter Ascending. (Some bits, not so much.) Certainly the designs and visuals were magnificent.

I just saw that there's a Pacific Rim 2. Nobody's mentioned it. Is it that bad?

And apparantly there's a new Men In Black movie. Nobody's mentioned it. Is it that bad?

And apparantly there's a new Godzilla movie. Nobody's mentioned it. Is it that bad?

Some people really like those US ones, but if you watch only one Godzilla movie from the last decade it should be Shin Godzilla.

Edit: Oh and there are also animated ones on Netflix; avoid those like the plague.

No. It's entertaining and I would say overall good but it suffers from being the follow up to Pacific Rim and doing some stuff that's not fun to some of the characters from the original.

    Have not seen it.

No, it's good. I personally found it real good but I was not thinking of it as an SF movie when I wrote my list, but now when I think about it, it do take place in the near future and have some real high-tech

Godzilla doesn't have shins. He has cankles. Seriously Shin Godzilla was good.

I thought Pacific Rim 2 was better than the first, but then I didn't like the first at all. I seem to be in the minority.

It replaces the lead Charlie Hunnam with John Boyega, which I thought was a huge upgrade that makes the sequel superior by itself. Hunnam was awful.

The visuals are a slight downgrade, but the action choreography is much better. Less stupid **** like slow moving rocket powered punches and suddenly remembering they have absurdly effective swords at the end after an entire movie of punching things.

That's the googly eyes movie isn't it? I can't see myself watching that.

... until my daughter makes me watch it and I'll love it.

Alita/Rosa Salazar is great, Christoph Waltz is great as her adopted father/mechanic, all the other characters/actors are a bit flat. I really like the film and have seen it three or four times, but it does squander actors.

I have watched it weekly since it was released.

I am too far gone to hide a cry for help within that sentence.

If you’re poking fun at people for liking a sci-fi film aimed at children, I’d like to remind you that this is a board primarily for the “Star Wars” movies.

If you want to watch kaiju, Shin Godzilla is a great suggestion, but I also suggest a small film called Colossal, by the author of Timecrimes. Although you might utterly despise it, because you are weird, but that would also be entertaining (for me.)

EDIT: Very misleading trailer in an effort to sell the movie to American teenagers. It's not a comedy.

I most assuredly am not. I live with a girl who now maintains the Alita haircut and will be done with advanced krav maga before she graduates highschool.

I believe she also fights in the local roller-gladiator tournament.

    Edit: Colossal is great.

****. Watto doesn't want to see any more Natalie Portman? Here's more Anne Hathaway.

But! Timecrimes is a movie I've always wanted to see, but I forgot what it was called. So thanks, Dave.

Is there a scene at the beginning in which she plays a scholar giving a smart ass lecture? If so, pass

In a world where Ana de Armas and Sheila Vand make films, it is indefensible to watch Portman or Hathaway films.

Welcome to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse. Can I interest you in the Steakums?
