See... you find that hilarious while my wife and I live in endless fear that today will be the day that Emma comes and asks for body modification surgery to get those eyes.

Blade Runner 2049 is probably my favorite sci fi film of the last decade. The experience of seeing it opening night in IMAX was astounding. I saw it with a group of friends too (we were all Ryan Gosling fanboys). It's a shame it bombed domestically.

I rented Save Yourselves last night. It's a mumblecore-style relationship movie wrapped in earth being invaded by ravenous killer tribbles. It's also about how everyone's relationship with everyone else is filtered through their smartphones. I'm not selling this one as hard as I could maybe.

So, when I was a kid in 8th grade, we had access to the PLATO mainframe computer at the University of Illinois. We would go to the computer lab and do our computer science class homework on PLATO's BASIC compiler. There was also a messaging system, so we would send a lot of texts to each other instead of working. This is also how I became a forum junkie. And a slacker.

To make this story short: I may have been the first teenager in the United States to have a girlfriend break up with me via text message.

I have watched Godzilla, Godzilla: King of Monsters, and Shin Godzilla. I liked all of them.

Tried the Expanse for two episodes: meh.

I wonder if Christoph Waltz was cast in Alita due to his previous performance in Tim Burton's Big Eyes. He was also in the TV movie Goldeneye (1989) and Quicker Than the Eye. Also, he was in Der Sandmann (1983 TV movie), playing the character Nathanael, who recalls his childhood terror of the legendary Sandman, who was said to steal the eyes of children who would not go to bed and feed them to his own children who lived in the moon.
Man, talk about being typecast in eyeball movies. I do see he's branching out to be in a nose movie (the voice of The Fox in Pinocchio).

Looks fine, but what’s up with this big bushy beard trend?

It's the logical apex of the current beard dialectical process. Soon the clean-shaven look will return in force. Then... beard revolution. Beardvolution.

So I watch a Godzilla movie with some buff actor. The next day, Ken posts a trailer to a new film - it's got the same buff actor. It's got George Clooney. It's got Felicity Jones.

Is it just me? If I watch this I will just see these people. Pretending to be scientists.

Hedy Lamarr had a very scientific mind. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hedy_Lamarr#Inventor
Dolph Lundgren has a master's degree in chemical engineering.

I'm having a difficult time envisioning a movie starring the two of them.
