Anybody who posts “Police Lives Matter” is deliberately trying to undercut the message of BLM in my opinion.
By making it a competition, they showcase the racist nature of police power as well as other forms of how they oppress people.

The "Blue Lives Matter" flag is the American fascist flag at this point.

At the deepest level. There is purportedly all this significance in the colors of the flag representing the dignity and valor of the country's citizens... and they literally drained all the color out and place all of the emphasis on the unaccountable stormtroopers who hold full authority over the populace with zero repercussion.

I saw that one. Apparently SARS is enacting more brutality the more people protest, and then people are refusing to be intimidated by the increase in brutal measures.

Cross-posting this one from Race Relations:

Can we talk about how police pepper-spray Black protestors and then file charges against them for assault?

Police who pepper-sprayed rally to the polls in Alamance County charging organizer with assault

Hardly surprising, given how often people are charged or killed because they're not sufficiently compliant to excessive uses of force from police. So it fits the M.O.

This one, on some level, isn't on the cops. It's on bad city planning that seized houses, then didn't use the houses because the rich neighborhood won and stopped the development.

The cops are the ones doing the enforcing. It's on them. They could always just choose to... not drag people from their homes.

What's the official reason for evicting them? Liability? Safety because the water, sewage, electricity don't work?

I'd just like to point out that, yes what the police are doing in this video is obscene, but that isn't the only problem. The very fact that they're being forced out at all and the very fact that they're homeless to begin with is a problem. If the politest policemen escorted them out there would still be a lot of problems.

    In essence, everything bad.

I don't think "police decide which laws and orders don't matter" is also somewhat dangerous. That is what several departments are currently doing right now in saying they've decided they don't think the mask stuff should be enforced, so they won't.

Can't read the Times article, but I remember that's the precinct whistleblowers allege is led by the "Executioners" gang who, as the name implies, require initiates to murder someone.

Even more fun, the cop primarily accused of the murder has apparently fled the US.

Honestly? I'm OK with police not enforcing mask mandates if it means people are less likely to get murdered or thrown out of their homes by them. The bad already entirely outweighs the good with them, so it's not like we'll be experiencing a net loss if they do their jobs less.

What about when the police historically refused to stop mobs from dragging prisoners out of jail and lynching them? Or when they decide not to investigate personal friends or powerful people? There's not a great line here.

It's especially ridiculous because this problem is so easily solvable. Enforcement prioritization is a thing. You could advocate for different prosecutors, different city policies, a more expansive social safety net--dozens of options. Why on Earth is your first option police officers trying to role-play Judge Dredd? Why?

I don't want police to exist in any capacity, because they as an institution are inherently corrupting and amoral. How is me advocating for Police doing less somehow equivalent to Judge Dredd of all things?
