    per the us dept of education's new title ix regulations that go into effect on 8/14, coaches/school employees are no longer required to report allegations of sexual misconduct to the school's title ix office. additionally they "give schools a choice in what standard of proof they’d like to follow, bolster protections for the accused and require live hearings and cross examinations."

    headed backwards, it appears.

    great writing from dominque moceanu, gold medalist in 1996 who spoke out against the karolyis when they were still at the height of their influence in the early 2000s. at this time, they were still physically and psychologically abusing athletes at their "ranch," and turning a blind eye to the actions of larry nassar:

    she was shamed and exiled from the sport for her bravery, and should damn well be recognized now as one of its heroes.

    ill maintain that bela and marta karolyi should finish their days in prison. don't give a **** if they're old and/or disabled.

    those poor girls, i swear. even the ones who were just around these animals, and didn't necessarily suffer abuse first-hand. the betrayal of trust, the ****ing head coach of the national team was assaulting the athletes. jesus, that's some dark ****.
