This isn't a gaffe stick, its a Fijian weapon called a Totokia or pineapple club which was used in New Zealand, his home. I don't know if it was the inspiration for the gaffe stick, but that would be a crazy coincidence if not

My gf pointed out that his fighting style with the gaffe stick reminded her of The Maori Haka dance. Which makes sense because he is of Maori decent.

How fitting that a Maori descendent ended up using a weapon obviously inspired by their culture. Very full circle, much like most of Star Wars."

Not sure if this is the place to share it, but for Republic Commando fans, Shadow of the Republic is an amazing short fan film:

 

I saw this just yesterday and it is great. I love the version of Vode An as the soundtrack.

 

The Clone Commander soundtrack was fun. It was trying to compete with Halo’s gregorian chant.

So in the SWC fanclub, I post a new set of Mando'a words every so often. I've decided to also share here incase anyone here doesn't post there.

aruetii [ah-roo-AY-tee] traitor, foreigner, outsider

But what makes you an outsider, a traitor, or a foreigner?

One House could point to another as a traitor. Jango and Boba Fett were never truly accepted as Mandalorians, so they could be seen as outsiders. Din Djarin was a foreigner who was rescued by Death Watch, so he was technically a foreigner who was adopted into the Mandalorians.

What say you, vode?

 

I speculate that it actually means something like "not one of us" and depending on the situation it means traitor, foreigner, or outsider.

 

I imagine most mandoade would use those words for most dar'manda. I imagine members of the Nite Owls would also refer to followers of Darth Maul in this way.
