The Mandalorian The Mandalorian 2.08 - Chapter 16 (Season Finale!!) - Discussion Thread (Spoilers Allowed)

OH CRAP, SON, YOU'RE RIGHT!!!

 

First off. I don't think I've ever been more wrong about a director than I have been about Peyton Reed. and Im wrong a lot. This was a fantastic episode of television, and half way through I remember just thinking damn this feels like real Star Wars and I'm back baby! This man directed one hell of an episode of Mando. Second, because lets just get right to it ladies and gentleman, despite the Uncanny Valley that was on heavy display, THAT WAS LUKE SKYWALKER THE ONE AND ONLY. we got to see this man do some INSANE $h** right there. The shot of him with his bionic arm outstretched force crumpling the droid trooper with ease. AND OF COURSE R2 IS WITH HIM. This is the man whose best friend is a droid, who will "protect the Child with his life". This is the Jedi that will answer the call of some random Force user who reaches out from some far away planet. That scene with R2 and Grogu. and Pedro.......ugh Pedro just killed it in that touching final scene. This episode hit the feels. Thank you Jon Favreau, Peyton Reed and everyone else involved in making this show work so well and bringing us some pure and blissful joy in such trying times.

 

I doubt he won it in combat either, so he's not super experienced himself. If it weren't for his slight surprise when he realized Mando was gonna let him live I'd be inclined to say he lost on purpose to create conflict between Mando and Bo-Katan.

 

This episode is just gonna get watched again and again and again

 

None, now that I think of it. I guess Im just so upset with the end of Mando. Lest face it he's handed over the show to Boba.

 

I’m wondering if Luke will pair up Ahsoka with Grogu and their shared journey (on Ahsoka’s show) will chronicle how they avoided Ben’s turn to the dark side.

 

He is no Vader. But if he were to train in the dark side, he’d become a powerful ally.

 

How did they do his voice? Marks voice has changed so much it sounds completely differant than his voice today.

 

Poor kid surviving TWO Jedi genocides.

 

This episode is gonna create a hell of a buzz tomorrow

 

Yep, I guess it'll probably be a good one.

 

I’m thinking that the Mandalorian S3 and the Book of Boba may either run concurrently in December of next year (Mando on Friday and Boba on Sunday, for example) or like this year, we’ll get Mando in November to mid-December, and then Boba around Christmas.

 

Seeing Boba sit on that thrown. I think he’ll become an amazing crime boss

 

I think the show has cleanly used this season to transition to stories for Boba, the New Republic, and Ahsoka. If we see another season of this, it will deal with Mandalore. That, or Mandalore will be involved in whatever "climactic event" is being built up to with the spin-offs, unless Mando season 3 is the climactic event.

I don’t think there is going to be a fourth season of there even is a 3rd

 

It would be ironic if Boba ends up becomimg the Mand’alor, ruler of Mandalore.. a clone of a Foundling rules all of Mandos. Sounds SW to me.

That was pretty satisfying, but I've got a couple things:

Mando didn't give Grogu the steel ball, it never appeared in this episode.
Did Luke leave Mando his contact information? "Here's where to find me and the kid."
It was great seeing R2-D2! I can't help but think he recognized Grogu from the Jedi Temple.
I can't understand how Bo-Katan got the Darksaber from Sabine, but can't accept it from Mando?

 

I don’t think that’s his calling his calling is to become a crime boss

For all its brilliance, this episode was not a patch on Chapter 13 for me.
