Badass Luke decided to hold himself back and not fight after TFA because I guess he felt Sith Lord status was inches away. Luke in his prime is what we all were dying to see.

The red glow definitely works better and I think it’s one of the reasons the Vader scene was better

 

But my favorite color is blue! Come on that has to count for something

 

Where to from here? More Luke?

 

I think you do need to De-age them abit tbh. It will definately be noticeable that they are 15 years older. Especially if they do a flashback to the Jedi temple where anakin is killing Jedi. It's not 2005 anymore

 

More Luke but I think in small doses. Like 1 or 2 times before the series wraps

 

Love to see Luke, and i know that Mark is happy too.

I think that’s likely. Got to hand it to Disney. Apart from the ST gripes people have, they’ve giving the fans what they want. Boba in action, Luke in his prime kicking ass, Vader back in a Kenobi series. We’re getting good stuff here.

 

Don’t forget Thrawn I am almost certain will be in these shows

 

The CGI was pretty damn good too.

 

If you pause the shot when the X-Wing flies by the bridge you see the “Red Five” markings

I think he was reaching out to the being in the X-Wing feeling the Force.

When the color was green I knew it was Luke, masterfully executed reveal of the moment I’d say.

The details were impeccable

As if to say “Hello There”

I’d say it echoes Ahsoka reveal as well in the forest

Absolutely great mo-cap, Mark Hamill voice synchronization. I have no doubt Lucas, Filoni, Favreau and Kennedy were all involved in this episode

 

I think the cgi was pretty good, if we look back on Tarkin in R1 they made a massiv step forward in the last 4 years.

This realy makes me wonder where we will be at in another 4 years...

For now I'm happy with this beeing a one time cameo as I don't think another appearance would be able to evoke the same emotions in me and over time the magic would be lost.

I think a way around this could be a return via hologram like maul in Solo, as such an appaerance carriers less Wright.

I can't complain at all although I will say how he showed up as a deus ex machina at the right time
stuff like that is too neat
Sad grogu had to leave dinn but Luke said he'd give his life to protect the child...

 

Word on the street is that Mark Hamill had nothing to do with this and it was done like Tarkin in Rogue One.

But his name was in the credits so either he did the voice lines or they credited him for use of his face. Strange times.

 

I will make two criticisms here.

1) The music was calling for a full blown JW type underscore like Giacchino did for Rogue One. Goransson's score failed to give this the grandeur called for.

2) A far lesser one. A very minor point really but it's odd that Luke didn't give Din his name. "Are you a Jedi?" "Yes. My name is Luke Skywalker."

Presumably it was his voice though?

 

Yeah, they can go with... "I think we may have discovered the location of Yoda's home world. Ahsoka, take Grogu."

Only with better lines.

I know Tarkin worked for me even though he looked creepy.

He was just a creepy looking villain.

Instead of Mark Hamill, I guess they probably should have put Luke Skywalker in the credits.

 

It all works for me. I never went to this "uncanny valley" that is often talked about. If I thought about it then the puppet Grogu would put me off just as much (probably more) because compared to what they could do with him digitally the puppet pales in comparison.

That of course presumes that Ben was the first of Luke's students that he crept up on when they slept, scanned their minds and decided to murder in cold blood in their beds.

Maybe that wasn't the first time!
