Much like Pud Galvin as the godfather of juicing belonged on the Performance Enhancers, Satchel Paige and his barnstorming belonged on Every City. =((

    A couple of notes ...

    1) Due to the nature of record keeping with the Negro Leagues, not all players will successfully import into OOTP. Generally speaking, the more info is on B-R, the better, but a bio and stats on B-R does not guarantee they will be able to be imported. Obviously, if I produce a scouting report, the player can be imported, but if you have a question about someone, you can simply ask if they can be and I'll check, no scouting report needed. I've had to refund a couple of scouting report requests on account of this.

    2) Since a number of folks have asked ... typically speaking, the magic number you want to look for in a shortened season is 150 at-bats. Higher than that, and the system will start to pro-rate (but possibly not give durability); lower and the system will weaken, no matter how good those at-bats were. For pitchers, 15 IP for relief / 60 IP for starters. However, I will warn that typically pitchers who don't reach the threshold of 100+ IP lack serious durability.

Can a modly type put those to points in the OP?

Is OOTP 21 noticably different than OOTP 20? I have the latter, but I'm good with hanging onto it since I usually use it for fictional leagues.

I had 19 so I don't know what the difference is from 20, but it's noticeable from 19.

I got it because I think they do a good job and if we're all going to be using their game to play our game, throwing them a $5 seemed appropriate.

Most of the enhancements from 20->21 are the progressions between seasons

I'll make a call for final roster submissions before Spring Training starts. After that, I'll import the final version of all players, and years will be locked.

Speaking of Spring Training ... we should decide how long we want it to be. I currently have it set at two weeks, but we can go as short as one week, or as long as six.

Besides giving you a chance to evaluate your team before games count in the standings, there are three things that Spring Training can do:

    1) Knock off rust. All players enter the new season with rust and need to get into regular season form. For each at-bat or inning pitched, some rust gets knocked off.
    2) Learning new positions. If you draft a player with the intention of playing them in a position they don't know and aren't rated for, they have to learn the position. While you can learn the position any time, it's easiest to learn in Spring Training (plus errors made won't impact your actual results). OOTP follows the concept of the "defensive spectrum." The defensive spectrum is as follows: DH - 1B - LF - RF - 3B - CF - 2B - SS. Generally speaking, the further to the right, the harder the position is to play and the harder it will be to convert a player to that position. Position players can learn to play catcher, but it often takes a very long time, and they typically don't make very good ones. Please Note: this applies to moving around the outfield as well. A career centerfielder who is gold-glove quality might struggle mightily in right field if not given the time to learn the nuances of the position.
    3) Injuries are more common in Spring Training, and the longer the Spring Training, the more likely someone is to pick up an injury - either a knock they carry through the season, something that causes them to miss the first month, something that ends their season, or something that ends their career.

I'm fairly certain #3 exists just to make sure that always picking 6 weeks doesn't work to full benefit. I'm open to anything on the spectrum from 1-6 weeks, and will leave it to your discussion.

Also - @cubman987 do you know it's your pick?
