Animated Shorts High Republic Shorts

It doesn't sound like this will evolve into anything more extensive but these short bios could serve as an entry point for fans to discover the High Republic Era without having to buy the books and comics.

These are shockingly low quality.

 

Pretty soon Star Wars Youtube shorts are going to devolve to the point where it's just a flat silent image of a character with a caption reading: 'Watch/ Buy the related Star Wars product/show!'

 

I don’t understand the issue. These are short promotional videos highlighting characters from some new books. What did we expect, Studio Ghibli? The sketches are nice, the artwork is high quality, and the videos are a decent primer for a new era. Works for me.

 

I thought it was a type of clothing.

There's probably hardly any budget for nontraditional promo for print-only stories, and considering that, a good amount of care has clearly gone into these, especially considering that there will probably be ten or twenty of them. They've got a unique and consistent aesthetic -- it's not like they just copypasta'ed the concept art or comics content that's already out there, which would've been really easy to do.

 

Agreed. They look good. “Shockingly low quality” is some pretty aggressive and subjective hyperbole.

 

I'm wonder who they also show. I'm pretty sure that next will be Loden Greatstorm

I loved the audiobook of Light of the Jedi, but I am still vague as to whom is whom.
I'm not good at remembering character names and what they all did, especially as the book jumps between a quite a number of different scenes.

So bring these little videos on as a nice reminder.

 

That last Nihil one was actually much better than the first Vernestra one I watched before commenting that. Despite the still limited animation, the use of changing light levels and viewpoint movement to simulate the action worked quite well. The first on the other hand has a slow, stable viewpoint with little movement or light variation, which only highlights how simple the animation and artwork is (the face of Vernestra is just bad).

 

Simple, in my view, is not synonymous with bad.

 

I hope thath we will get more stempunk design in future. Btw Does there will be short about Marchion Ro?

 

Seems like for now they're all sort of "no spoilers beyond the setup" for LOTJ, ATOC and the comic series, so Ro will probably come along later.

 

They seem very simplistic, as though catering to a younger audience. Can not say that anyone is jumping off the page either. Still, should be about a decade before this is mainstream sw? Let us see what develops.

These aren't bad at all. There pretty good and shows how massive this High Republic era is going to be. I can't wait for the next book
