If Seinfeld was still on, ‘The Unlike’ would definitely be an episode.

 

Jerry: So she liked your Facebook post, and then an hour later her like didn't show up anymore?
George: Completely vanished! As if it never happened!
Jerry: You know what this means, right? She unliked your post!
George: Who does that? Who goes to the trouble of unliking a post?!
Jerry: Obviously she does.
*Kramer barges in and slaps money on the counter*
Kramer: I'm cancelled.

 

Then George hounds her to re-like the post.

 

I do this all the time by accident when my ancient iphone gets laggy and then on purpose when someone starts a thread about it.

 

You know what's worse than the Unlike? The Unseen Like.

Sometimes (especially after we've had a Trumpster in the US Politics thread) I wake up to a bunch of likes and I feel obliged to check them all out because if I don't, the like will have been in vain. It's like dodging a slap on the shoulder. So every morning I obligingly check out who liked what, like a mailman.

When there is the avalanche of likes all by a single person in the same thread I just assume they were liking everything and I never check what the specific posts were.

 

I have liked and unliked probably a couple dozen posts. Which if you compare it to how many times I like something it’s rare. Like 0.001% chance rare. Usually because my hands slip when I go to reply.

 

This thread is unlike anything I've ever seen.

This happens to some people when I'm catching up on certain threads. But I don't like everything--only those who make good points!


Several people in this thread have said they only unlike when they read a later post that refutes the points in the previously liked post. I can sympathize with that but don't do it myself. I gave them a like, dang it--I'm committed at that point!

What I do enjoy doing, though, is liking one post because they make good points. But then also liking the next post that categorically disagrees with said post because their points are even better (or at least also good or presents a compelling contrasting viewpoint). If anyone actually paid attention to my liking habits (which, if so, what's wrong with you??), you'd probably get confused as to what I actually believe sometimes.

Yea that’s recent within the last two weeks. It was changed. I do like the deeper red.

What’s so VIP-worthy about asking a few questions, anyone could do it!

 

I remember you liked a post from when I was about 15 years old. I get self-conscious enough about posts I made an hour ago!

 

guilty as charged, though I don't do it nearly as much as I did a few years ago. then it was more because I was shy about posting in the jcc (yeah, rather lame, I know!). but more recently when I do it, it's usually because I'm too busy to really get in there with a reply--or, I'm catching up on something from too far back in the thread to reply but I still want to "high five" the poster for something in their post.

I also plead guilty to "unliking" posts, for varying reasons. Sometime either the original like or the unlike was a technical mistake, but sometimes I realize after reading more posts that I misunderstood the post I originally liked and it was meant to say something I don't want to "support." That doesn't happen very often but it has happened.

 

I have probably gotten a few unlikes. As I’ll sometimes edit my post to add something and I am sure I have said some pretty stupid things in editing

 

All good tracks. I think when Spotify did their year end wrap up I'd listened to the Ohms song for over 10 hrs that year.

 

A few minutes ago I liked one of Diggy's posts. Then I went back to the same thread and saw he had edited the post, and I liked the edit too, so I unliked the post just so I could like it again. You're welcome, Digs.
