But again, what does clout from a brand really matter if his name alone carries clout? Regardless of whether there is any more Star Wars in his future or not, there are many more movies in his future that a very loyal fanbase is going to want to see.

Except this was a call to investors. Purposely misleading them is illegal. If Chapek says she’s in it for the long haul that informs the investors on where their money is going. Lying would open them up to litigation.

This. There's nothing wrong with keeping KK on. Say what we will about how the ST turned out-however legit of points they are-everything else released during her time as head, and under the Disney banner was great. So IMO there's no reason to doubt that great things may yet be coming.

Isn't it just a rumor that Rogue Squadron takes place after the ST? Has that been confirmed?

 

KK said it part of future era of story telling in new era i belive, so it's either OT or ST era.

 

The official description on Star Wars dot com says the movie will "move the saga into the future era of the galaxy," which you could take as just moving the franchise itself forward if not for the fact that "future era of the galaxy" seems to be talking about the world specifically. This all kind of goes aginst the OT iconography we've seen, from the temp logo to Patty Jenkins' announcement video on Twitter.

 

Hmm. I'm sticking with my "I'll believe it when I see it" approach.

 

Maybe by "future era of the galaxy" they actually mean return to the future of the OT timeline...

 

^ Honestly, that's what I'd love to see. OT era is iconic for a reason.

 

I still think the T-65 X-wing and the Rebel Alliance helmet in the promo video and the T-65 in the logo probably mean more than the kind of vague wording of that "move the saga into the future era of the galaxy" phrase. Maybe they just used those ships and helmet for now, but they could have used newer ships and helmets if they wanted to. I tend to think it's set in the OT era, or maybe it's a squadron that's still using old stuff even in the ST era (as some have wondered).
