I’m still going to give Rogue Squadron the benefit of the doubt. But having watched WW84 again with my wife, I have to say that it was even worse the second time. This is a really horrible movie. Not “Book of Henry” level bad, but there’s nothing about this movie that’s good. Almost aggressively bad. The script, the filmmaking, the action, all of it.

Hopefully Jenkins is really inspired for Rogue Squadron and creates a classic. I still have hope. But WW84 shakes my confidence a lot.

This is going to be tough. The Covid-19 has changed the landscape and who knows what the new normal is from here on out. Yeah, 2023 is a bit off, but look we are in March 2021 and the movie plexes are scant. My assumptions are between $130 domestic and $400 million worldwide for Rogue Squadron. Premature, and its subject to change as the virus gets pushed back.

On other news, https://www.cbr.com/avatar-china-re-release/ There is the possibility that Avatar could go back on top just with the Chinese market alone. It only needs another $7 million to retake the spot. We will see of China gives them back the number one ranking.

This is the most solid prediction in the entire thread.

To me, the big question for all Star Wars theatrical releases going forward is how exactly Disney plans to distribute them. The Premier Access option on Disney+ is in many ways a product of the pandemic, and I doubt they'll proceed with simultaneous theatrical and streaming releases for their biggest budgeted films. But I also think that the traditional theatrical window is going to shrink considerably. Paramount has already announced a 45 day theatrical exclusivity window for their releases. I could see a similar scenario in which Rogue Squadron opens in December 2023, and then moves to Disney+ by February 2024. In any case, our understandings and expectations for box office are going to be shifted significantly.

Yeah - BO numbers will no longer mean what they did before the pandemic, partially in response but also its where things were heading before already - pandemic just sped up the transition.

And to think it only took 4 releases. James Cameron also holds the record for how many times he releases his films in theaters.

Don't expect Avatar to get any help from me, the dumb is strong with that one. Once was plenty.

I forgot this was a thread. Anyway I expect around 900 million. That’s if theaters are still around in 2023

I've never actually watched Avatar. I should give it a try, I think it's on Disney plus.

You come at the Cameron, you best not miss.

Now I'd really laugh if Disney rereleased Endgame to compete with... itself.

Instead of watching Avatar do something more fun like mowing the lawn or cleaning the gutters. :p

Disney should re-release Solo, so it can get the box office it deserves. Avatar already has the box office it and all it's sequels deserves.
