Discussion ROGUE SQUADRON - Patty Jenkins Film Potentially Back On

honestly, I have no idea what is canon or not anymore, and I’m someone who reads a lot of star wars

 

I still think this and others standalones for the time being is post the skywalker era, so we can see the galaxy after chaos form the former goverment.

 

The logo for Rogue Squadron strongly suggests a pre ST X-Wing. I don’t think it’s actually logical for standalone films to start defining a new era of Star Wars post ST, as that risks painting themselves into a corner. I think post ST will be left to a new saga trilogy...

 

I don't know, i think saga trilogies might go into the past,

 

I’m sure the saga trilogies will go into all eras, but I’m just pointing out that a new era post the ST, is probably best established by a saga trilogy, where they can better develop the concepts than a standalone film.

 

oh yeah sure, but i also have this feeling they might go standalones like Marvel and connect them. We wont be getting a trilogy until after 2027 and i think they may want to connect the movies in the same era.

 

I hope this will be good, but until LFL can produce an anthology film without switching directors and reshooting it, I'm gonna keep my expectations in check. I hope Jenkins can put this together, but right now I still have trouble trusting LFL.

 

Even though the Anthology films are honestly the least controversial and in Rogue One's cased the most loved of the movies they've made so far by general fandom ???

Honestly I'm someone whose like who cares how many reshoots and people (Who can afford it) get fired as long as it's good.

 

Exactly. Apocalypse Now was one of the most disastrous film productions in cinema history, and it’s one of the best films ever made. Who cares about a messy process? This is art, not engineering.

 

I think Rogue One was easier to fix because they had the guide posts of ANH to follow. They knew that they had to lead into that story, they knew that their characters needed to be killed off, or at least taken out of the picture. There was a clear direction to things because they already had a story to work with. Rogue Squadron (presumably) doesn't have this.

Apocalypse Now had Francis Ford Coppola making it.
