Here I am never wondering about if a shooting's going to happen, because I am not Free.

 

Graduated 4 years after Columbine, still didn't have active shooter drills.

Which, I contend, is still how it aught to be. I had more disruptions as a student from bombs than shooters, and we still don't do drills for that.

Somebody called in a bomb threat (to get out of an exam as we later found out), into our school a few weeks after Columbine.

Which went down about as well as you'd expect.

 

Back when the Soviets were a bigger risk to American way of life than a mildly inconvenienced American with access to excessive firepower.

 

That should've been "don't do drills for that", but I'm talking about Americans with pipe bombs and stuff, not Russians with anything.

 

It's ok, I'll have plenty of opportunities to do it from now on, I am sure.

 

In the last 3 years, my workplace has ran security briefings, which was in response to the terror attacks at Parliament and London Bridge. Not so much for the last year due to covid.

 

The exact same thing happened at the school in NM where I spent a year as an exchange student. A (fake) bomb threat call very shortly after Columbine. We had to sit outside in the scorching heat for hours.

 

Here's hoping you have as few opportunities as possible to do it from now on...

 

50 degrees and drizzle when we had ours. Fun. Surprised I didn't catch a cold that day.

 

Not amused in the slightest. I know it's going to happen, but the less dead bodies and bereaved families, the better.

 

Look, the reality is there's no will to fix it and too much resting on consuming and being afraid, so we're going to see a problem - mass shootings - and a notionally first world state unwilling and unable to do something about it. It's beyond devastating now, it's in the realm of a classical farce.

I should not have read that. I actually feel sick. What abhorrent, appalling, miserable excuses for human beings.

 

I'm tempted to share that one with a few acquaintances of mine who are hunters, just to listen to them destroying that pair of idiots in ways I never could.
