I don't even remember my 40th birthday.

 

I remember mine. My family took me out for fancy-pants “artisanal” mac and cheese. My dad asked me if I had any words of wisdom to share as I looked back on four decades of life. The answer was no. No, I did not. (I don’t have any now either.)

9 years ago I spent my 40th with family at an amazing Mexican restaurant, which closed and now the closest one is over 10 hours away.

Just woke up. Can't do anything today but hang out online. The weather's ****. It's gonna piss down any minute. Got just under 14 hours 'til it's not my birthday anymore. Who wants to shoot the **** on Discord or something?

My 40th was a weird experience, as I'd buried my father-in-law a few days before. Last year was the first time I'd felt better about birthdays.
