Been listening to Giacchino's Ratatouille and Up scores lately, mixed with Howard Shore's Hugo score and John Williams' BFG and The Terminal. It's a nice mixture.

 

I listened to some Joe Hisaishi earlier, and geeze that man can write music. It's too bad more people don't know about him. WETA should do a retrospective.

Listened to Short Round's theme from Temple of Doom as a friend posted it. Such a brilliant, playful piece of music.

 

Yeah that's an underrated score, I think.

 

Four years ago today we lost the amazing and talented Chris Cornell. I still can't really listen to the music he helped create. For me the grief is still too near.

Heaven send hell away, no one sings like you anymore...

August 6, 2001. The title for Episode II had just been announced and the Jedi Council forums were blowing up with excitement. I had been lurking and reading off and on for probably two years and finally decided to register and post my thoughts in (probably) the Phantom Menace forum on the new title (I liked it). The rest is history, as I became an active poster and member of the community. Over the years, I became a moderator and manager of the TPM forum, the SW Community forum, helped oversee the transition to the PT forum and took over moderating here in the Music forum from my good friend @General Kenobi. I've met many awesome people in person from these forums, some many times. I have more than a couple handfuls of friends I keep in touch with in many ways. Some I chat with almost daily, others weekly. A few check in with each other every so often, usually excitement around shared interests and loves. I hang out with some a few times a year. I've taken trips to meet/party with JCers in Vegas, L.A., New York, Chicago/Milwaukee, Houston, and probably more I'm forgetting. For me, even as these forums have quieted way down from their heyday, it's been about the people I've connected with. "The friends I've made along the way," to lean fully into the cheesy lines. My life and my relationships were and are impacted by the people I've connected with here and I am grateful for that.

Here's to 20 more years! (Dear gods I will be old...)
